Ball weight and brand - Would you swap?

I stick with Columbia300. Have had 11 balls since taking up the game again 9 years ago the first was a Columbia Beast, then a Brunswick Monster, which just didn't work for me, so Columbia300 ever since.

    British Open Prizefund - Golf

Willey, I appreciate the question you're asking, but these just aren't the facts, a few Google searches will show that. That said, it doesn't really matter whether the PBA was on ABC for 40 years or 30 years, or whether or not the PBA ever had better ratings than the PGA, NFL of pro. tennis. The...

    British Open Prizefund - Golf

And sad to think that at some point prizemoney for professional golf and professional bowling was a lot closer to parity: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1077123/index.htm This decline is certainly related to the discussion on national team funding.

    2010 Australian Adult team announced

Great question Jason. With the answer to that question in hand, I wonder if this company: www.momentumww.com.au/ could be a worthwhile resource for TBA to pursue? It's a funky site but go to the Company tab at the bottom and then click on the Sponsorship pebble/rock. Also go to the Work tab...

    2010 Australian Adult team announced

The crux of this whole thread is the statement "you should be funded to represent your Country." Again with all due respect to the undoubtedly highly-talented players selected, it is just a shame that Australia will not be sending their best possible team to the Men's World Championships...

Geoff, I actually asked that question earlier in this string and so far haven't seen any answer?

    2010 Australian Adult team announced

OK, so how come one of the best players in the world isn't on the Australian team for either the Asian Championships or the World Men's Championships? I assume that it has to be because Belmo declared himself unavailable (if that's not the case I'm even more puzzled). However, with all due...

    SANDBAGGERS

There are several heated threads on the USBC site about sandbagging in the USBC Open Tournament. As there are only 2 divisions (181+ = Regular, 180- = Classified) and the number of entrants (the tournament runs over a 5 month period) makes the prizes at the top end of the Classified division...

    G'day From an Oldie!

Brendan, Yes, Dad was in the immigration line at Hong Kong airport when he had the heart attack that took him. He had been to visit me a few weeks beforehand on his way to Switzerland and was on his way home. That was quite a rivalry between Mayfield and Newcastle, I was surprised when I...

AUSTRALIAN SENSATION JASON BELMONTE TO BOWL NEXT TWO PBA EVENTS

Looks like a couple of changeovers made the difference today and Belmo missed the round of 16, finishing 29th. Next week is another tournament!

AUSTRALIAN SENSATION JASON BELMONTE TO BOWL NEXT TWO PBA EVENTS

Wow, after a slow start (202 Vs Pete Weber) Belmo just shot 280, 277 in games 2 & 3 - pretty impressive!

AUSTRALIAN SENSATION JASON BELMONTE TO BOWL NEXT TWO PBA EVENTS

Well, Belmo has made it through to the match play round of 32 with his first exemption. He's in 24th place with a 231.5 average and ahead of some big names including Norm Duke, Tommy Jones, Sean Rash, Patrick Allen and Rhino Page. He continues to prove he can compete in the PBA.

    G'day From an Oldie!

Brendan, I just remembered one othe player on the Newcastle Bowl team in the Coca Cola Juniopr Travelling league back in those days, Cookie (Robert? Cook). Did you stay in touch with them all?

    G'day From an Oldie!

Hello Brendan, I bowled on the Olympic Bowl Mayfield team in that same Coca Cola league, but must admit that we were a poor second string Newcastle team to Newcastle Bowl (although Stan Topic held his own against Donnie Hudson on many occasions). My memory is failing me on the rest of your team...

What if the Pro's Could Bowl on Your Average House Shot..?

Well the TV round was interesting to say the least, while Mike Wolfe bowled well, the much anticipated exceptionally high scores didn't quite materialize. Robert Smith and Bill O'Neil both struggled in their semis and then Mike Scroggins had the same experience in the final (despite being the...

    Today I cried....

Seeing this a little late. Yes, it was amazing and as a newly minted US citizen (unfortunately just a little late to vote) it was great to see the reaction around the nation, actually around the world. While he has a tough road to hoe the president elect is already off to a great start in...

AUSTRALIAN SENSATION JASON BELMONTE TO BOWL NEXT TWO PBA EVENTS

There was also great coverage on Belmo in this month's US Bowler magazine. Clearly the USBC and the PBA see him as bringing something new and exciting to the sport. Re" "the Aussie battler within will shine....and it's because of this quality, you already have an edge over the Yanks!" - I...

    World Cup - Day 4

Just checked the results for the quarterfinals and it appears your prediction on your own prospects was accurate. Tough luck on that but congratulations on making it that far. Looks like Shannon Pluhowski did make it through and great to see Ann Marie Putney in second place going into the round...

Belmo off to a solid start in the PBA World Championship

Just watched the TV round and Norm Duke was awesome (as usual) in both his matches to win the event. It was great to see Belmo have such a great run and watching Steve Jaros, Chris Barnes and Sean Rash all struggle so much on TV made it clear that Belmo must have been able to make a lot of good...

Belmo off to a solid start in the PBA World Championship

This includes all the details for next week's event: http://www.pba.com/file_upload/tickets/08-09/ThunderAlley.pdf The pros vary from event to event, but are always from the exempt list. I did this a few years ago when there was a Denver tour stop (which there will be again this year). It...

    USBC Open Tournament 2009

Matt, The USBC Open Championships is a one shot tournament (no re-entries) with team, doubles, singles and all events. The closing date for entries is December 12, 2008 (http://www.bowl.com/tournaments/usbcopen/National/reservations_2009.aspx), but there are often teams looking for subs and...

    USBC Open Tournament 2009

What dates are you bowling? My squads are June 8 and 9, but I'd consider making another quick trip to Vegas just to see such a powerful Aussie team compete.
