Gary...........................................

FULL-TIME: Australia see Cahill's goal disallowed and Simunic awarded a third yellow card as referee Graham Poll blows the final whistle on this Group F decider. But it is Australia who go through to the last 16 as runners-up to Brazil.

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Gary..........................................................:D

Yehaaaa! Go the Socceroos! They did what the rest of the world never thought they'd do, qualify for the Round of 16 with Brazil ahead of Croatia and Japan! And to think American coach Bruce Arena said we were one of the weakest teams in the tournament! pfft!

It was a truly bizarre and at times, farcical match due to handballs, yellow cards, and fouls, but Kewell's equaliser was worthy of booking a place in the last 16. Kalac's crucial goalkeeping error could've haunted us for the rest of our lives, but the football gods were smiling down on us and now Australian football has reached new heights yet again!

Now bring on those Italians!

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi! :p

That was a toss-up for who was the biggest crab on the pitch between Kalac and Graham Poll.

At least we got through, but for Christ's sake can we get a decent ref anytime soon

The official reason apparently is because he is taller than Schwatzer, and Croatia is known for their excellent aerial scoring technique (case in point is the penalty goal in the second minute, simply superb, nobody would have got to that).

He wasn't chosen because he is a better keeper, and I think it's safe to say that barring injury, he won't play the next match.

GO AUSTRALIA!!!!

PS - Shannon, too busy with "other matters" were you? ;)

Go the Aussies. it was a good game, I think we all went through the emotions of mad, than happy than, how can we have this keeper, get Schwatzer back out there, to goooooooo Harry!!!!

Bring on Italy. Myself and Donna will be up at 1:00pm tues morn to watch, although it could get nasty, as she is Italian.
Go Australia

This is classic . . .

Socceroos speak
"My parents have been there for me, ever since I was about 7." - Tim Cahill

"I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the league." - Mark Viduka.

"Guus Hiddink is the best manager I've ever had at this level. Well, he's the only manager I've actually had at this level. But he's the best manager I've ever had." - Lucas Neill.

"If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of bed at the end of the day." - John Aloisi.

I've had 14 bookings this season - 8 of which were my fault, but 7 of which were disputable." - Ned Zelic.

"I've never wanted to leave. I'm here for the rest of my life, and hopefully after that as well." - Mark Schwarzer.

"I'd like to play for an Italian club, like Barcelona." - Vince Grella.

"You've got to believe that you're going to win, and I believe we'll win the World Cup until the final whistle blows and we're knocked out." - Harry Kewell.

"I'm as happy as I can be - but I have been happier." - Mile Sterjovski.

"Leeds is a great club and it's been my home for years, even though I live in Middlesborough." - Mark Viduka.

"I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel." - Craig Moore.

"I took a whack on my left ankle, but something told me it was my right." - Harry Kewell.

"I couldn't settle in Italy- it was like living in a foreign country." - Vince Grella.

"Germany is a very difficult team to play . . . they have 11 internationals out there." - Zeljko Kalac.

"I always used to put my right boot on first, and then obviously my right sock." - Jason Culina.

"The Brazilians were South American, and the Ukrainians will be more European." - Scott Chipperfield.

"All that remains is for a few dots and commas to be crossed." - Marco Bresciano.

"One accusation you can't throw at me is that I've always done my best." - Craig Moore.

"I'd rather play in front of a full house than an empty crowd." - Mark Viduka.

"Sometimes in football you have to score goals." - Harry Kewell.

Thank god we can play.............

0-0 Half time yea we rock..................

SCHWARZER.......................Good Game so far.............;)

GARY...............................................

The referee should be sacked from International FIFA matches for life for that.

That's absolutely disgraceful. That should never have been a penalty in a hundred years! He ran over the top of Neill and tripped (or took a dive) in the process. If anything it should have been a yellow card to the Italian.

Disgraceful, I'm absolutely disgusted.

Well done Socceroos, going down 1-0 in the 95th minute!

again, the referees bring the socceroos to a loss

still, it was a great game, and the entire team should be proud of their efforts, as well as Guus Hiddink, his last game as australian coach but i am sure he is extremely proud of his team and what they have achieved

IN GUUS WE TRUST!!

matt

Yeah was a pretty bad call, plus where was ours for the handball in the 90th???

Great Tournament Australia.....=D>

Hope the Referee enjoys the New Ferrari he was promised.

If I was the Ref I would look for protection for a while.....:snipersm:

Dive.......9.5 :---)
