Who do you think should be appointed the CEO of the TBA.

Wayne Chester, or Peter Coburn

Vote now!

I thought I was running for chairperson, not CEO.
Oh well, as they say in Chicago..."vote early and vote often" lol

Rob,

My guess is that the money offered wouldn’t get Peter out of the nice office and great view of the Melbourne Docklands that he has…

So I guess that shortens the odds for Wayne to 250-1…;) In all fairness Wayne you should send me a Picture of your view to post here...:D:D:D

Why on earth would Peter Coburn apply for the CEO position? It's a fulltime job and he already has one running his own business.
I would have thought Chairperson would be more appropriate.

I can see why Wayne is so keen now...Here is his view on a Saturday night from his office...:D:D:D

Can someone please make it clear whether this is a joke or serious. I know what I think about this thread but I'm guessing many people will take this seriously and if that's how it was meant then that's fine.

If this thread is a joke then I find it a little tacky given the current crisis.

its a joke, the CEO position is the last thing on Peters list of things to accomplish :D

I haven't applied for the CEO position. I'm more interested in the Chairman's office. As for Peter's intentions, only he can answer that question for you.

Please take the time to vote for the candidate of your choice.

And just how do you vote for the candidate of your choice when only one has made his intentions clear.
Also if you do not want to be CEO then this poll is fairly pointless then.
Maybe this poll needs to be reworded to maybe ~ Vote Wayne or vote other.

what i want to know how old is the petrol price photo as we are paying $1.35 a litre in newcastle:mad:
on the other issue does it matter who gets as nothing changes, there have been some good people before but they don't survive as they are outnumbered or they go along with the majority to keep the peace

I’m sorry to disappoint the majority here but I have not and will not be applying for the CEO position.

As Andrew S has rightly pointed out I have a full time profession and it is far more financially rewarding. Last year I sold my previous business, Struc Plus Pty Ltd, which allowed me the 5 months of a year off work to volunteer my services to the sport in my previous TBA roles. However, with a new business now off the ground and going well I need to be hands on 6 days a week. My 4 weeks a year of annual leave is dedicated to the sport at my own choice and expense. I will continue to support Holt, ATBSO and a few local tournaments.

As you can see from Jase’s pic we also spent the children’s inheritance and changed our lifestyle to apartment living. With a view like this we’re not moving.

IMHO, the entire organisational structure of this sport needs to be re-visited. Clearly, with the demise 10 years ago of ATBC and more recently TBA Mk 1, the structure and acceptance by the members is not working. If TBA collapse, then the ASC will adopt the 3 strikes you’re out attitude and no longer support tenpin bowling.

My wife and I had dinner with a proprietor on Tuesday night and the following was my suggestion on what needs to be done to re-structure the sport and move forward.

TBA needs to be the recognised NSO governing this sport, controlled by a purely voluntary Board only. A CEO, or any paid staff, is not required. TBA’s role is purely to govern the sport, its rules and has no operational duties.

All operational duties are outsourced to organisations that specialise in services to ALL members (not just the elite few). An outsourced membership organisation need only return a $1 per member to TBA to offset the small costs associated with governance focused Board meetings, insurance, ASIC requirements and FIQ/WTBA affiliation fees. National teams are selected by a nominated selection panel and, as it currently the case. ASC funding is to be obtained and used solely to offset the full costs of these teams.

You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to realise that the national championships, due to the lack of promotion and therefore decline in numbers, over the past 12 months are run significantly in the red. The conduct of the national championships should also be outsourced to an organisation or committee that know how to run successful and profitable events.

TBA already outsource the awards program and while this was done due to the administration costs of this program making it unprofitable, this should have been the start of other unprofitable operational roles.

It’s blatantly obvious that until something like the above is realised and adopted then nothing will change in this sport. Unfortunately, the vessel to do this is all but a closed shop and sadly only a collapse will instigate change.

I’ll be the first to put up my hand to assist in a re-structure.

I wish Wayne all the best in his pursuit of the Chair. This is a position that you must nominate and then be elected to, it’s not an appointment. Just remember to lodge your nomination form this time.

Peter,

Interesting post but at least two other major things need to occur.

1. People need to accept that not everything goes their way. If a new process is to be undertaken, then make sure your knickers remain unknotted.

2. We need money (serious money) brought into the sport. The very first thing I would do is to get a top promoter/marketer on board. Imagine if we had $10 million a year to spend on the sport?

Could not agree with you more Peter and would also be more than willing to lead a hand in assisting a re-structure.

To answer the question of the price of fuel in the photo..

Firstly, you can all thank Jase for the photo, as it was his doing not mine to throw up a picture from Ireland in a lame attempt at making fun of me.

So what if I don't have million dollar views from my office or home...what does that have to do with leading bowling back into a fun, safe, and fair sport for all ages?

What I do have is a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding this sport of ours and a burning desire to rectify the transgressions of the present TBA board members..

At the end of the day the person who gets the position of CEO, should be in it for the BOWLERS, not for the veiw from their office, or the money. If they enjoy the sport then they should help save it,. At every state and national training camp I have attended, the KEY word was always TEAM WORK, this sport cant survive in australia on its own, in all the wasted time people ***** and moan about this sport, they could've been out there recruiting more potential bowlers. So my vote!! Who has the best intentions for our sport, and more importantly THE BOWLERS needs cos when you think about it if it wasn't for us BOWLERS, there wouldn't be a need for a CEO.

I can't figure some people out
this is a simple poll asking who
you think would be best for the
position in your opinion not who
has or will apply good luck to any
one who wants to help our sport
go forward instead further backwards
