wchester - Just to enlighten the voters maybe you could give us a bio on who you are and what you've been doing in the industry over the past few years so then people can vote for you fairly.

Dozza

No one needs to vote Peter declined and that leaves Chester as the only runner.
Maybe he should fly to Russia and meet up with our CEO and get a low down on what the position requires to be overseas most of the time.

The way I see it "Other" is still in the running if it hasn't pulled out and it has twice as many votes as Chester.
I'm curious though ... has Chester applied?
Dozza;)

I dont think so......Chester is like most.....plenty of talk but not much action.
Bit like our current CEO and Board.

I though I had better clear a few things up on here before any more insults are thrown my way.

I have not, and am not, applying for the CEO postion. This poll was started by Tonx ,and it was supposed to read chairperson postion, not CEO. I've already stated this in posts #2 and #9. It has never been my intention to seek the TBA CEO position.

To those of you who have shown your support for me, I thank you. To all the other voters in this poll, I thank you as well and promise that should I be voted in as chair of the TBA, I will treat each and every TBA member as an equal. I don't play favourites and have always stood behind my word.

I'm a man of many words and just as many opinions, some of which turn into ideas on how to improve the sport and business of Tenpin Bowling. I'd dearly love to see some of these idea implemented into Australia Tenpin Bowling. With your help, we call all make it happen, beginning in May of next year.

Rather than just lobbying here in a bid to become Chairman, maybe you should be lobbying the people that have the power to put you onto the board "The National voting delegates"
Hey, here is an idea! why don't you start by getting involved with your local association or nominate for a seat on the board of VicTenpins, then all the voting delegates for Victoria will know what you stand for! You might even win their votes for your bid to get on the board.
But as Dozza pointed out, for those of us who don't know your history, ideas or what you stand for, why don't you post a bio.
With all due respect Wayne, how do you expect any of the voting delegates around the country to support you, if they don't really know you. To coin a phrase.."It's time to put up, or shut up"

Who are the "National voting delegates"? Do they represent the ordinary league bowler who has never heard of TBA? Do they represent MY vote?

Not everybody can be a so called "National voting delegate" and those who are, DO THEY CONTACT BOWLERS ON HOW THEY SHOULD VOTE?????

The sludge thrown around here on this thread is a disgrace, but typical of some tenpin bowlers.

Wayne, I don't know you personally but I do respect your freedom to nominate for the position you aspire to and I do know your background as a champion bowler such that you should be given every support to VOLUNTARY contribute to the progress of this sport. I know Peter well and what he has said in his post above is spot on. I feel that people like Peter and you could turn this poorly run sport around and point things in the right direction. Good on you for putting your hand up. Not all bowlers have bones to grind.

Reg, the voting delegates are only there for window dressing. The Board appoints who it wants when it wants and sets the fees it wants. There is no consultation of delegates other than at the AGM, and any decisions made by the delegates at that meeting are changed sooner or later.
Just look at the latest round of changes and additions to the board and the many changes to the fee structure.
There are no grounds for appeal, a handful of people control the Sport in this country and if you dont like the way they do it....

Thanks Andrew - but tell me then please, WHO APPOINTED THE BOARD? If appointments cannot be made or controlled by the tenpin bowlers of this country then no bowler should pay a cent to the TBA. Centres should be able to sanction scores in their centre, run tournaments etc without reference to TBA. Why pay TBA to rubber stamp something they have NO CONTROL over??

Can we get rid of TBA altogether and how do we go about it?

It is not a good idea to get rid of TBA. We need a National to help run and promote the "Sport of Tenpins" in Australia. However the current Board needs to be stood down and a NEW board appointed who will work together as one unified body to position Tenpin Bowling as one of the top participating sports in Australia. We need a CEO who will stay put and fix the problems in our own backyard, not fly all over the world doing everything but what our CEO is paid to do.
The sooner this happens the sooner our sport will start to move forward.
We need professional people running the show and there are plenty of Business Qualified personal amongst our Tenpin Bowling Industry who could take on the position and steer the industry in the right direction.
