Lane 1 thread

Wow, and I was living in a fantasy world in which people in bowling were actually nice to each other:-\" What a shocker

Sad, isn't it? I just can't see the point of all this animosity. What gain or pleasure can anybody get out of it?!!!

Since I was out all day i didn't get the chance to respond to the thread.

Firstly I think a few who posted missed the point completely at what i was saying and used it for their own agenda.Secondly this is a genuine issue i feel strongly about. Some have laughed it off as a joke including yourself Max.

The word Credibility " being worthy to be believed".

This is what BBA posted on the 8th August 2006:-
"We would like to congratulate and welcome our two newest members to Team Bowling Balls Australia.

We are pleased to announce Paul Trotter and Ashley Riley will be joining us forthwith and bowling with Lane #1 gear. Paul's and Ashley's records speak for themselves, these people will further complement our already awesome team.

I am sure I speak on behalf of all your team mates in wishing you both all the best and we look forward to a long and fantastic relationship."

There is nowhere in here stating the use of any other brand.

Since you're a major sponsor to this site ( which we the bowlers/customers greatly appreciate) you use it accordingly to help promote and advertise BBA which you are within your rite, but you also have an obligation when things change.

I also didn't appreciate the "Looking for a sponsor line". You used me to attack someone else over a different issue and then your pet sock puppet sticks his opinion in and talks about something different again. Again not happy to be spoken to like a child from a child.

Tonx i understand what you're saying because when announced it didn't state what brand the two ladies that were recently sponsored will be using yet in this case the two bowlers were advertised as the flagship of Lane#1.

Alot of bowlers are "Brand Mad" and swear by the brand they are bowling with. Even thou this started out as a tongue in cheek thing it's really insulted those Lane#1 fans and Lane#1 itself.

Finally i want to finish this in saying what BBA and Max have contributed for the sport in the last few yrs has been outstanding and your customer service to me with the Voucher was A1.

Regards

Tony Hamilton

Tony

Thank you for the explanation behind your post. Where our opinions differ is that I don't feel we have an obligation to explain to anyone what happens within our team, except to the team and it's members.

Yes, Paul used another brand's ball and for the very good reasons as previously explained. If it did not happen to be a brand which someone else had an interest in, I am very sure the thread would not have started in the first place. I am also very sure the thread was initiated as an attack on me, BBA itself and our team (as I feel has been proven again today by the initiation of another thread) - and naturally that is what got my heckles up.

When it was then raised by your good self in the "abrupt manner" it was, it seemed that you were supporting the original author in a judgmental attack on me and our team. I maybe wrongly assumed it was a 'gang attack' and that is the reason for my inference re the sponsorship. I most humbly apologise for that comment.

I thank you most sincerely for your kind words about what we are trying to do for the sport and for your voucher win etc - coming from you, those words do mean a lot.

We came into this sport initially to give something back to the bowler in the way of value priced products and supporting players and events where possible, and to a large degree I think we have done our job pretty well. There is always room for improvement which we are striving for daily, and will continue to do that to the best of our ability.

To our many supporters around Australia, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support in every way.

I implore everyone who has an opinion on what has happened over the past few days, let's all get over it, enjoy your bowling and your friends in the sport and we will continue in our efforts to help the sport as much as we can.

Thanks & regards.......Max

Max,

We don't know each other. Apart from buying a couple of items from you in the past and getting good service we had no other dealings. I don't presume to understand even 10% of what's behind the posts on the previous thread, I am not savvy to that level of the Aussie bowling scene (or any other one for that matter).

I was genuinely saddened by the level of animosity demonstrated and I can't even tell any more "who said what"; just the general feel of it.
And yes, I do ask everybody involved not what their position or explanation is but is it really necessary to do it this way? It gives such a bad taste to the business, to the sport and to everything around it.

I'm not coming from the "flower power, lets all love each other" side of things, I'm a business consultant and communication specialist. This is bad for business. Everybody's.

I do object to the assumption and inference in: "as I feel has been proven again today by the initiation of another thread". I initiated the thread looking at the process (the "how") rather than the content (the "what") and I did it because I do care. Funnily, anybody expressing anything that strongly does that because they care. That is something that is common (!!!) to all "rival parties" in the thread. Maybe a good starting point will be to remember that!

I have no problem with "putting it all behind us" as you suggested but not without learning something from how it went; otherwise everybody involved is left with some level of unease and time's only ticking before the next round.

Hi Michal

Thanks for your reply. Our dealings in the past have been great and very much appreciated.

Please be aware - the thread I referred to was not the one you started. I have no issue at all with yours.

Thanks again & regards..........Max
