Congrats to Ross Brown - Northern NSW Open winner

GeorgeF

Hypercell = Hyperhook!
Ross beat a stellar field to win the Northern NSW Open over the weekend. He took care of some of Australia's best enroute to his first significant Adult tournament win. With Jason Walsh, Matt Riley and myself exiting after round 1 it was anyone's for the taking and when it counted Ross struck.

A well supported event which I hope will be bigger and better next year.

I'm sure James will post the results on here soon.

1st Ross Brown
2nd Jason Doust
3rd Mick Little

Well, that's the best thing about best of 5 knockout format, anyone can win if they have their day. Congrats to Ross and thanks to James and all who made this tournament a great success and I hope it is bigger and better next year.

James,

What happened to the 1 vs 12, 2 vs 11, 3 vs 10. 4 vs 9, 5 vs 8, 6 vs 7 pairings in the first round?..

The way you've written it, the matchups seemed a bit unfair to some. For instance, Matt Riley the #1 qualifier bowled the 9th seeded player, while Bec Whiting who qualified 6th got to face the 12th place qualifier. ..Could you please explain how this happened? qualifiers.

Hear Hear! On all points. Well done Ross. You were the best bowler on the day.

Also big thanks to Justin Kennedy who worked wonders in Microsoft Excel creating the mother of all lookup tables to create a fantastic qualifying scoring system saving us a lot of work getting people's two high qualifying blocks sorted out. Nice work mate.

Cheers,
Jason

p.s. We've also found good Italian food just around the corner from the bowl! (One more reason to go next year!)

Thank you james it was a great event i will be back next year for sure.

A BIG CONGRATZZZZ to ROSS The Giant killer for winning this event:)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. You guys are the only reason we go to so much trouble to run an event like this.

Even though it is a heap of work catching up with everyone is certainly worth the effort.

The bowling was fantastic, the pattern held up which was great and a new winner entered the history books, beating a previous 3 time winner along the way.

It really was a great weekend and a big thankyou from us goes out to all who supported us.

I also must thank a few people, Jason Doust for heaps of work behind the scenes, Justin Kennedy for playing with excel (how he does it I don't even want to know) and Fiona for putting up with me all weekend.

Plus I am sure there are others I have missed.

Looking forward to a bigger and better Northern NSW Open for 2009 with probably the addition of a couple of extra qualifying spots, taking the finalists to 14.

If you missed out this year you had better start planning for next year, you won't want to miss it.

September 18th, 19th & 20th 2009.

Regards
James

Trust me James, if I even tried to explain it your head would probably explode!

Thanks for the kind words and to Jason Doust earlier in the thread.

Looking forward to next year's already.
