AMF announce that their magificent 26 Lane Centre has opened alongside the large Bunnings Store in Villawood NSW. This Centre replaces the old Fairfield Bowl which closed at the end of June 08. AMF Villawood boasts 26 Brunswick Synthetic Lanes and the upgraded Computer Scoring system. Additional to the usual AMF inclusions of Food / Beverage, amusements and pro shop is a state-of-the-art Laser Arena and Bowler's Lounge area where bowlers can unwind, enjoy a game of Pool, watch their favourite sport on giant screens and relax and socialise before and after League.
This Centre is distinctive for its open and spacious feel - a real bowler's bowling centre with abundant parking outside the front entrance.
AMF look forward to welcoming all bowlers to this new Centre located at the intersection of Woodville Road and Tangerine Street in Villawood.

car park is quiet big actually, not sure how much amf run but there is macdonals there as well for those who want a late night feed

A phone number would be good to actually get a hold of this centre, as yellow pages or call connect doesn't have this listed yet.

Practically next door to Villawood Imigration Detention Centre. An institution which decidedly does NOT have an Open or Spacious feel about it.
You know the old saying about real estate...Location, Location, Location!
Good luck AMF..Another Major Folly

Wayne.

Does the saying if you have not got something good to say don't say anything at all mean anything to you.

For a person living in Bendigo Victoria to talk about the location of a bowling centre in NSW regardless of whether you have been there for a visit or not is very rich as far as i am concerned.

I have always been one to allow things to develop and to prove themselves to me before i burn them down like you have with your post here. If in months to come this centre falls away and deserves to be given comments like these fair enough but it has been opened all of 3 days and a Guy in Victoria is making these sort of comments. Give me strength Wayne those comments are in bad taste, please have the decency to allow people to give you a reason to ***** before you start on them because they are an AMF centre.

I will be bowling there in ID this weekend and i have been told that first impressions of people who have actually gone there are pretty good.

Stop being so bitter Wayne and shock us all with some complimentary comments some time instead of all this negativity you keep throwing up on most of the threads i see you making comments on, it would be a pleasant change or is that a bridge to far.

What a shame Fairfield was the first Centre I bowled at when I was a kid, also the first Centre I worked in, I started on 21/10/1969, easy to remember it was my 17th birthday.

Thanks for that Roy I didn't even know it was closing, Fairfield was an extremely successful Centre until they stuffed the Car Park. Fairfield Council owned the front Car Park and they put a road straight through the middle of it, but the Centre did have a little Car Park of it's own that could hold about 25 Cars but they built over it in the early 80's to add 10 lanes, this made it the second biggest Centre in Australia along with Bankstown.

I hope Villawood is just as successful as Fairfield used to be.

hope the centre is successful and brings our sport to many new bowlers in the area as well as becoming a great place to play for the competitive bowlers down there

Best wishes

tix..

It could be the greatest centre in the world, I don't know. I said nothing negative about the centre, its staff or the lanes. I only voiced my opinion of the location and the surrounds. I'll say the same thing of AMF Sunshine, which if you know anything at all about Melbourne suburbs, you'd realise is located smack dab in the middle of a notorious area. It not a place I'd want my family to be on a dark night.

On a more positive note..
Thanks go out to AMF for opening a new centre and I wish them the best of luck with the new bowl..really!

I must say I had a look and bowl on Tuesday, it's got high standards! I was the first to ask for a ball return too! :p

Very spacious too. It's great. Lanes are top notch! Love to see some tournaments other than the St. Leonards Tenpin Club run there too!

Congratulations AMF, this time the initials might mean "Always My Favourite" for someone...

P.S.: Wayne, you may have been innocent in what you wrote, but i'd watch it. You could be sued for defamation by a big company for what you have said if it were taken the wrong way! Not where you wanna be.

Thats right. It's only a detention centre, not a radioactive plant. People still live there. It's not like it's dangerous or anything. Never felt threatened driving through there to be honest.

You can't be serious, Richard. Villawood is one of the worst suburbs in Sydney.

The detention centre is probably the safest place in the whole suburb, just quietly.

A Villawood teenager was stabbed in the arm twice in the toilets of a bowling centre on Wednesday night.

Police were called to the Woodville Road tenpin bowling centre at 6.20pm after reports that the 15-year-old boy had been stabbed by another teenager.

He was treated by ambulance officers at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he is in a serious but stable condition.

I guess the honeymoon period is over....
