From Bowlingdigital.com
We have heard that the 2009 Women's World Championships will be held in Australia. According to our information the Presidium of the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) has decided on a meeting held in conjunction with the QubicaAMF World Cup in Caracas to give the championships to Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA). The event will be staged at Oz Tenpin Bowling Center, a 24-laner in Melbourne, at the end of August.

That is excellent news. When was the last time (if ever) that a world championship was held in Australia?

Congratulations to all those involved in getting this event to Australia. You deserve a pat on the back and accolades from everyone.

Chris.

2009 Women's World Championship is coming to Australia

As quoted from the TBA website

2009 Women's World Championship is coming to Australia

Tenpin Bowling Australia has secured the hosting rights for the 2009 Women's World Championships. The final bid countries were ourselves and the USA. After presentations to the WTBA Presidium, Australia was chosen as the host. This event will increase the profile of our sport and federation immeasurably. A host state and venue will be finalised shortly. I thank everybody involved with the bid process.
