Wodonga skins is also on that weekend, it always draws a few tournament bowlers

Maybe all these tournaments can work together to align each others tournaments, skins are only on one day, SA Cup is only likely to be 2 days if it ever runs again. Hopefully common sense will prevail and Mildura can be on this long weekend as it will possibly have a skins component not to mention a proper 3 day format. It pretty much needs this weekend to be a success.

why don't you try and get some sponsorship money from a local motel/hotel and tell them you will put there info on the entries form, so they might get some money back and get a good room rate too, but bowlers would have to like and use these places for it to work. and again bowlers would have to get on board with that idea, it would be win win for all parties..
just a thought for you..
sounds good its a shame i don't travel anywhere to bowl really.

Already in motion with a list of nice motel's we have up here close to the bowl, but hey thanks for the idea . . :)

Plus guys not to mention the awesome house boats we have up here and the Murray River, we will be approaching them shortly to see what deals we can get for everyone . .

keep the comments coming guys !! . .

Not sure why it needs this weekend to succeed - its not like its a long weekend anyway. So working people will probably need to take annual leave.

Well with the public holiday on the Thursday a majority of people would usually take the Friday off to make it a 4 day weekend. Makes alot of sense to be on this weekend. The reason why its on this weekend is every other long weekend in Victoria has major tournaments on. Dean

Not saying its not a good weekend - but people should be aware its not a long weekend as Michael suggested:) If I can get time off work this could be my first tournament for 2 years.
Money and location sound good.

Not a problem, tourny sounds great, always willing to help out in any way, as bowling really needs a lot more support in aus. its just a shame more centres don't work as hard on there tourny's as you lot have all the best.;):).

Sounds promising. Good luck with the organisation of the event and I'm sure with that prize money it will attract the best players in the country to Mildura.

Whilst it may not be a long weekend in the strictest sense of the term this year, for 4 out of 7 years (approx given some skips come leap years) it will be a long weekend. It's a handy time for a tournament that goes for 3 days and can't get much better then Mildura in summer :)

That is more or less the point I was making in my earlier post, should have been more specific lol, there is always someone out there being pedantic :wedgie:.

For anyone considering bowling in this, why not put in an annual leave day early now, so that you are prepared and can give this tournament the support it should have.

IMO, SA Cup can be run any time during the year and with SA bowlers screaming out for tournaments, perhaps a later date in the year would be more just, perhaps in the late August to Sept territory (bugger all tournaments there now). Perhaps someone there is willing to make a small sports series or similar with 3-4 tournaments in a lead up to the SA Cup, use the SA Cup as a grand final of sorts for the series, tie it in all together, be a good incentive to bowl a small sports series with say a free entry for top 2-3 points placements and half price for the next few spots etc. If there are the bowlers there to support it, it is a concept that can work.

Has been tried and tested...

Also there is a possibility of a $1000 bonus to the highest placed female and highest place youth/junior (pending extra sponsorship).

If you want to see what Sunraysia (Mildura) bowl is like there is still 2 spots left in our 60 game marathon in August. Great tournament to be apart of as well.
