Rule Confirmation #2

I was wondering what the rule is about if a pin is missing from the deck and the ball has been bowled but someone from another lane notices that the pin is missing before the ball actually hit the pins.....does it have to be re-racked and re-bowled?

I have always been under the impression that it does but a guy in league tonight bet me $50 that it doesn't. (and me being a gambling man) :p

Thanks.

This is from the current TBA rule book and should put an end to the argument.

Rule 110 Dead Ball

A ball will be declared dead if any of the following occur, in which case such ball will not count. The pins must be respotted after cause for declaring such dead ball has been removed and the player will be required to re-bowl:

a) If after the player delivers his ball and attention is immediately called to the fact that one or more pins were missing from the setup.

You can see that there is no reference as to whom must draw the attention to the missing pins and as no pins may be conceded what you mentioned happened would be cause for bowling the ball again.
