Gary Gilmour passed away today - after a long illness [aren't they almost always long and debilitating]. For those that don't know Gary was a many times over WA State [Rachuig] and Australian National Team coach - and also an inspired swimming coach - a coach of young men and women who craved increased knowledge of whatever sport they played.

Gilmour understood the fundamentals of bowling....certainly better than most. However he was probably a better professional swimming coach [in Victoria's Dendy baths and also in Tasmania] than he was a fundamental bowling coach...but he was an outstanding physiological coach - and as a man who understood the mind..few were better.

What is tragic is that in his decline his own mind and his capacity to reason became diminished. What a sad end it is for someone who throughout his life was so mentally reasoned, so inspired and inspiring - to die as a result of the decline of the one instrument that spoke volumes for him.

There is no justice!

Gary was both altruistic and a sporting enthusiasts - he was a great man who did excellent work - I will miss him..so too will many others.

Couldn't agree more with your comments Jonsey. Gary was a great guy, always came up and had a chat with me. Will be sadly missed by all people involved in bowling
Cheers Lovey
