BELMONTE SHOOTS RECORD BREAKING SERIES AT SWEDISH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Displaying the form that earned bowler Jason Belmonte the coveted PBA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR title last week, the Aussie sensation shot record breaking scores in his team’s dominance of the Swedish Team Championship.

Belmonte joined his Scandinavian friends at Team Pergamon in 2006 and shared last night’s win by Team Pergamon of the annual Championship that attracts some of the world’s top tenpin talent.

His 929 for 4 games (232.25 average), followed by an awesome 1071 (267.75 average) propelled the strong Pergamon line-up to an almost invincible lead going into Sunday’s finals at Kalmar Superbowl in Gothenburg. Swedish superstars Tomas Leandersson and Martin Larsen have been Team Pergamon members since the inception of the Team Championships in 2003, and with the added strength of players of the calibre of Belmonte and fellow two-handed bowler, Osku Palermaa, Team Pergamon swept to its seventh successive win this year.

"Winning for your supporters, in the greatest atmosphere, with some of your best mates is extremely rewarding", Belmo said following Pergamon’s historic victory. "Pergamon had trained so hard leading up to the finals, winning was our mission and we accomplished that mission with flying colours. "Pergamon has now cemented itself as the greatest Swedish league team ever…I’m just proud to be a part of it", he added.

That's right Sean, 1071 over 4 games (267.75) surpassed records for that event, and would do the same in almost any tournament in the world I reckon !
