WBW World Bowler of the Year, Jason Belmonte has underscored his supremacy on the lanes with another thrilling victory in Las Vegas.

This time last year, the 24 year-old star made history as the first Australian to win the HIGH ROLLER Tournament, and overnight he has clinched victory in another one of bowling’s most fancied international events – the 2008 MINI-ELIMINATOR Amateur Only Classic.

Hosted by Texas Station Bowling Centre in Las Vegas, USA the main event offered a US$20,000 top prize and Belmonte has now added this to his impressive tally of tournament victories.

Comprising three divisions, the Mini-Eliminator Amateur Only Classic is a three-game scratch qualifying tournament with bonus pins, that features an elimination (beat half-the-field) final. Each squad consists of three games bowled over six lanes and the format is complex, but following his divisional win in Wednesday’s qualifying, Belmonte climbed into the championship round as overall winner of the under-45 division, and emerged outright champion following the one-game shootout against the other divisional winners on Sunday afternoon, local time.

Qualifying and championship round scores and further details are published on the tournament website – www.minieliminator.com and a full report can be found in the e-News segment of the Storm Products Inc. site - www.stormbowling.com.
