Does the bowling alley you bowl at (needs to be AMF) need a facelift?!

I bowl at Sunshine,I like the place, but it looks pretty shabby.
Could do with a few new things and a repaint...

:(

I come from Strikezone, a relatively new centre so we dont need a huge face lift...maybe a few coats of paint here and there...and other stuff I can think of but thats about it.

No need for one here.... only thing I would like would be a new drill and/or drill bits for the proshop.

Love our place... now

i agree Sunshine definately needs something - a definate Face lift but I bowl at Keon Park and i think it's okay at the moment - it recently underwent some renovations and it's not bad now....we just need to improve the prices at the Cafe :=)

Ok question for you... If you love to bowl, enjoy the company of the people you bowl with, does the way a centre look matter? Also if your centre looked different would it make you enjoy bowling any more or any less??

I bowl at Keon Park, Werribee and Sunshine and its not about how a centre looks its about the person behind the counter thet is ready to greet you. If they smile and are friendly it changes your whole outlook on a centre. Its the meet and greet that counts. If someone is arrogant and rude to you of course your going to think poorly of a centre. Their are alot of those types working in our centres at the moment!!!

There are more important things than a place that just "looks good".

Customer service is the big one. Machine maitenence and fair lane conditions also help. You can go to a dumpy looking centre, but the counter people fall over backwards to help you. They always greet you with a smile, and call you by name.... You feel good right?

Now think... you go to a "state of the art", brand spanking new place, where you are just a customer. The dufus working on the counter couldn't give a crap about you.... he just wants his shift to end so he can go drink. How important is the look of the centre now? Who cares! Because of the rudeness of the counter clown will you look forward to returning to this place?

I don't think so!

I can remember a centre that most people would never have looked at if you where looking to go social bowling, as that first impression would never have got you through the door.

The look of the centres is a must to keep social players coming through the doors. The staff are also as important, as they keep the social players coming back through the doors. The whole deal needs to be working to ensure the growth of the sport, both in social and league and tournament. If the centre looks good, but is not run well, people will not come, if the centre looks crap and is run well, league and tournamnet bowlers will come slowly. If you combine the good stuff, good looking centre & good staff and well maintained centre they all will come, which is what we all want, especially the owners.....

Let me paint a picture about a centre l remember visiting for Junior Sydney Cup........ ROCKDALE. :p

I can remember walking up and down the raod, past this old tin shed in a gravel car par 3 or 4 times. After being unable to find the street number listed for the bowl, as the number before was on the other side of the intersection, and the next number a good 300 meters up the road, l decided to go and check out this old tin shed.

Well guess what it was ROCKDALE bowl. If l had been a social player, nothing would have made enter that bowl, but as a tournament bowler, bowling an event there, in l walked without hesitation.

The staff and atmosphere inside the bowl were fantastic, and l would have gone back again, but that was the last year the event was held at ROCKDALE.

That is the thing about league & tournament bowlers. We will walk in the doors, but that first impression is so criucial to social play.

Totally agree with the way the staff treat you,the lane condition etc.
The people who work at Sunshine are awesome and I couldnt ask for any better...even the pin monkey rocks.

But,
perhaps I just have an imagination.
When I ever I sit there waiting for my turn to bowl..(if I am not chatting) I always look around and think "shit, that would look good in this colour,
carpet could do with a change...blah blah blah"..

Hey,
maybe I should audition for 'changing rooms' LOL.

Cheers,
Samantha

yes amf does need a face lift, in the food shop, why some girls & boys don't know how to cook food properly & make a coffee

doesnt need to be outfitted with the latest and greatest the industry has to offer, but the one thing i dont like is centers which are dirty (both players areas and other places, and ball returns / lanes). A wash or a good vacuum and some fresh paint goes a long way.

i bowl at newcastle superstrike but i definately say that Amf needs a face lift.

i have bowled at amf mayfield and belconnen and i thought they both needed the lanes repaired majorly

Not sure of centre facelifts, but, lane surface facelift would be nice! Been to a few centres that have lanes, such that, it sounds like you are bowling on celephane. :(

Changed my mind.

I voted "yes" to my centre, Noarlunga, getting a facelift however on the way home from work today I popped into the new look Woodville for a look.

Clean, clinical, brightly lit, new, gleaming. Absolutely hated it and I'm damned glad it's not my local alley. I did like the new lanes and scoring screens though.

I hope that when they get around to Noarlunga there's only enough cash left for the essentials.

Hey Terry

Well some centres do need a major update in the cafe areas also - not mentioning names but recently the centre that i bowl at hired new staff.... but you are right - some staff need to be trained properly in how to cook food and how to present it and to rectify their manners they left at the car park and to make a nice warm cup of hot choclate or hot coffee (the type where it doesn't burn you tongue either)

another thing would be to decrease some of the prices.....drink, burger and chips - you are looking at $10 to eat also to bowl $20+ (league) what else will be next?

It goes a long way with the customer if you do chat and speak nicely :D :D

jesus christ yes my amf needs a face lift. more like a total reconstruction if u ask me. i wouldnt bowl at randwick even if u paid me. poor bowling conditions and people who dont know what they are doin. it sux living in the eastern suburbs coz there is nowhere to bowl.

definetley. i come from cheso not a bad centre. but mount druitt is amf and it doesnt even look like dey put oil on da lane. its always looks dull n dark dere. da only thing good bout amf centres is time crisis

Ever since I can remember, the thing that gets me angry about Strikezone is Lane 24s right hand gutter. There is a part at the very end that makes your ball bounce back up onto the pin deck, depending on how fast you bowl. The reason I'm angry is beause I used to own a very good Spare Storm, and one day my Spare Storm rolled into that gutter and bounced fairly far back onto the lane. When my ball came back, I had noticed that my ball had a huge chunk taken out of it from where it had hit the groove or whatever it is down there and bounced. My Spare Storm died that day, and I was fuming. They still haven't fixed that gutter, and the same thing keeps happening time and time again.

Bubyee

Rowey :p

Bowler safety has to come before face lifts. How about they start replacing those ridiculous synthetic approaches with wood - its the only part of the lane that bowlers have contact with and we have to be able to feel safe on them.
