It is a shame this event is only for bowlers living in the victorian state or Albury in NSW as myself, Richard Palma and Koche Petrov the current Australian masters champion at restricted level were planning on coming to bowl in these championships but have now been informed because we live in the Sydney Area we are not allowed to bowl in these Championships.

Might want to think about opening up the opportunities for bowlers from other states to bowl in the future as it is hard enough trying to get the numbers to these state run championships as it is without telling bowlers who want to travel over 1000 kms to compete for pretty much the love of the sport and the opportunity to set records ( lets face it who goes to these things for cash ) that we are restricting the numbers of bowlers that can bowl because you are not a victorian bowler.

I will say that this is not just a victorian thing when it comes to this sort of thing happening and should be looked at across the board for future events especially in the current state of this sport and the economic climate we are in.

Yes its a shame the board meeting couldnt change one little rule to allow far travelling people to bowl with their mates...

NSW had the same "zoneing" rule, but waived it once it saw the number of bowlers who were interested in doing the championships.

I'm not too sure what the last 2 posts were about but I think they're suggesting that anyone in any other state should be allowed to bowl in any states championships. But wouldn't that mean you could have the same champions winning in each state?

Dozza

lol, i would think that the Victorian bowlers would be able to hold up on there own centres, well i would hope so anyway.

If you know our little band of bowlers affectionately known as the Posse, we bowl just to have fun with our mates, we would not mind winning but we just bowl so we can bowl with our mates in championships that we would not normally get the chance to.

Koche has an average of around 130, Richard and I are around the 170 mark not really that scary for the Victorian bowlers lol but as i said we just bowl for fun and to socialise and bowl with our mates and there are Plenty of Posse members popping up all over the Victorian Area.

I Hope this tells you our mind set, its all about fun for us after all that is why we all bowl i hope, its nice to win but if you were not enjoying yourself then there is not much point in bowling and trust me there is a reason Me and Richard and other members of the Posse are known as the Court Jesters of bowling lol.

With the direction state champs entries have been going for yrs id be taking entries from Mars!!!

I'm sure in the case of Masters, you could put a rule that no outside participation is allowed OR if won, rep spot withheld...

Here are a couple of reasons that lead me to I believe that the Victoria State Tournament is in grave danger of becoming extinct.

1) The Bendigo association voted against awarding a 'free' masters spot in all the divisions

2) There's very money in it. First place in the Masters is a paltry $100 and the entry fee is $5 during qualifying and an additional $60 if you make the cut...putting up $65 to win back $100 doesn't really have much appeal now does it?

You also get a Free Entry into the Masters at the Australian Nationals plus free entry into State Masters the Following year.

I'd thats pretty good.

State Championships are now up and running and
totally booked out for this weekend.
A great response.
Best of Luck to all participants.

WANT SOMETHING TO DO THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY?

Well just a reminder that State Championships for all age groups are now up and running.

Last weekend saw a very full house on both Saturday and Sunday, so just remember to get your entry in (as per the entry form) to avoid disappointment at not getting a berth this weekend.

We look forward to another fun filled weekend!

Edi and Doriana

NB: Do not send entries to Werribee Superbowl. Please go through Denece and Jan.

Werribee Superbowl centre representatives for the
Victorian State Masters 2009 are:

Seniors Female: Josie Culliver
Adult Male: David Porto
Adult Female: Karen Newman
Junior Male: Paul White
Junior Female: Aleisha Shields

GO WERRIBEE!!!

Dozza

(Who else is representing their centre????)

As I mentioned previously..NO ONE is representing Bendigo. The association chose not to offer the spots to any of its members....

Why, I have no idea, but i'm not amused by the decision.

It's in this years rules Bec, but apparently not too many bowlers were told by their centre management.
