Currently we have 67 entries for the tournament. This is a great result for the tournaments first year. Accordingly, the prize fund has been increased to $9,000 (the break-up is below). Also it has been decided to increase the cut for both matchplay sections. Scratch Matchplay will now be top 16 and Handicap Matchplay will now be top 12. Due to these increases the check-in times for Sunday have changed, Scratch Matchplay is now 8.30am (instead of 9.30am); Handicap Matchplay is now 9.00am (instead of 10.00am).
The format is still 12 games of qualifying on Saturday 14 September. After the qualifying the cut will be to 16 for 16 games of matchplay (including a positional round). The second cut will be based on the remaining bowlers being re-graded with handicap and the top 12 cutting for 12 games of matchplay (including a positional round). Pinfall will carry over for each cut. At the end of the matchplay the winner of the Under 23 Melbourne Tenpin Cup will decided.
As mentioned prize money is approximately $9,000 (based on increased entries). The Under 23 Melbourne Tenpin Cup will pay down to 33 (based on increased entries) with additional special incentives.
