We sat there & had a laugh watching this - but none the less - a very young Andy Verippapa - and Ned Day - world matchplay champion (1939) we were as happy as a duck in a blizzard !!!....lol..

Love how the pinsetter guy sits right there just above the decks within a small distance of the pins. Musn't have had too many flying pins those days you would hope.
 
That's a pre-conventional one finger grip. Heard of them, but that's the first time I've seen one. What a classic old film! And aren't they the most pristine wood lanes you've seen? I love how there are different sized balls to use too. The pin boys aren't worried about atomic messenger pins either. What does that say..?
 
Yes, great. That was how I was taught to bowl. 2 fingers though - not one. It's still fairly much how I still do it
Doesn't get the results I used to get, though............... Wonder if that could be me? ... Nah..............
