Paeng Nepomuceno and Ann-Maree Putney have taken out their respective divisions of the 2007 Columbia 300 South Pacific Classic.
Paeng had to hold off a strong challenge from Jason Belmonte, with the two bowlers swaping the lead for the last 5 games of the matchplay component of the event.
Paeng's victory, his 118th career win, makes him the only Dual International winner of the SPC tournament with his prior win in this event back in 1984. Paeng finished with an average of 216 for his 11 games of matchplay and a final tournament average of 212 for 29 games.
Jason Walsh, the 2006 Champion, came in third place and Bruno Maglieri, the top qualifier of the event finished in fourth place.
Ann-Maree proved too strong over the final 2 games of Matchplay in the womens division to take out the Womens Division of this years event.
Qualifying in 2nd place, Ann-Maree also had to hold off challenges from Cassie Staudinger, Rebecca Simpson (2006 Champion) and Kate Wilton.
Averaging 216 for the 7 games of matchplay and finishing with a Tournament Average of 209 for the 25 games, Ann-Maree, who recently won Silver in the Singles event at the recent Womens World Championships, once again proved to strong and went on to win the 2007 event by 70 pins.
Ann-Maree and Jason Belmonte (as Australias highest place competitor) will now prepare to take on the World in St Petersburg, Russia in November this year.
