35mm? 3.5cm? are you saying the average bowling ball is touching 3.5cm of lane at any given time? .........

Of course not. I am saying there is 1/4" of clearance under the ball at a point 35mm from the contact point. So if you are using a target 1/4" high, you need to miss either side by 35mm to miss it.

Michael, the lanes were still Wood and owned by AMF, in 2004. I left Mayfield in 2005.

Jim I also worked at Enfield (1971) and Balgowlah (1982-3), and Hornsby (1970-1) Fairfield ( 1969-1976)(1987-8) Rushcutter (1976-7)(1983-4), the old Parramatta (1977-8), the old Sylvania (1979), Astro Lanes in Campbelltown (1979-80), Liverpool (1980-82), Southgate (1982), Hurstville (1984-86) Bankstown (1986-7) Bennetts Green (1988-98), Mackey (1998-99), Mayfield (2000-5).

I knew you hadn't been there for about 4-5 years but you are talking about a tournie 7 years ago, good memory! And I still use two different balls per pair at Mayfield lol

To all those who have sent me PMs, thanks.
I don't intend to respond to any further posts on the subject. It has become , in my view, just plain silly.

Thanks again,

Jim.

Serious answer here, to a serious question, next thing to teach yourself is to move your 8/10 target to an area that's gonna carry, or line up for your spares
