Frilingos Wins Garden City Tenpin Cup in Toowoomba

Hi All,

George Frilingos was the narrow victor of the Garden City Tenpin Cup.
A late charge by Craig McCloskey from Caboolture was just short with Craig having to shoot a 222 in the last game but just failed with some terrible breaks in the last game. A big congrats to a young man who showed a very cool head to nealy gun down the 240.7 average set by the Greek God.

A big well done to George who bowled well all day to win and also to all those who bowled. It was a huge success with the Major Sponsors Lane # 1being pleased with the turnout and the keen response to the new balls they have on the market.

A thankyou also to Brad Lipp my mate who as Toowoombas leading Real Estate man for Ray White was generous enough to put up $400 in cash bonuses for the first 300 in each squad but unluckily we were unable to give the money away as the high game was 289 bowled by Jason Dawidowicz of Toowoomba.

The results are below so once again thanks to those involved and we look forward to seeing you all again at our next Toowoomba event.

congrats to frilingos for winning the event, looks like you bowled a step above everyone else.
craig man well done on finishing second what a top effort dude, I'm glad I'm bowlingn with you at the nationals lol you might be able to hold me up lol well done man

I'd like to thank some people as I was not at the presentation:

i. Thanks to Garden City tenpin bowl for hosting such a great event. The centres commitment to improving the standard of bowling (namely re-surface, re-fit and kegle technology). It was a great run event, no hiccups at all, a pleasure to bowl.

ii. Thanks to Lane 1 for their generous sponsorship of the event. As any tournament organiser knows finding sponsors is like finding gold, they are hard to find. Thanks Ronnie for organising it and pass on my regards to Richie. Anyone chasing a Lane 1 product PM Ronnie on this site for a great price and service.

iii. Thanks to my company sponsor Track who continue to provide me with support and awesome equipement. I used the Track CRUNCHTIME for most of the weekend. The top hat condition suiting the pearl coverstock which allowed me to play further in the dry and generate more angle at the back. It's hit was amazing, I strung a personal 4 and 5 game best with this ball, I was very impressed 249, 280, 268, 258, 279 for a 1085 (4) and 1324 (5)

iv. To all the 49 bowlers who bowled, to have that many bowlers attend and support an event at a drop of the hat is awesome. Tournament bowling in QLD is alive and kicking and I'm sure it wont be the last event we see organised by 'Soul Glow' and Garden City Bowl. Well done to Craig McClosky, a huge effort had me ringing the bowl every 15 minutes, 10th in Darwin and now 2nd here, a huge improver to be watchful of.

As part of my commitment to improving junior/youth bowling in QLD, I will be hosting a clinic in Toowoomba in the near future assisting the bowlers out there with the finer points of todays game. Look out for a date soon, thanks again and look out Perth this weekend!

Congrats George.
Its great to see someone putting something back into bowling!
Jeff.
