Important announcement from the Board of Tenpin Bowling Australia

Press Release
Important announcement from the Board of Tenpin Bowling Australia

The Board of Tenpin Bowling Australia wish to advise that Gillian Thompson-Rogers, the Chief Executive Officer has moved on effective Thursday 18th February 2010. Whilst the board considers the future management of the organisation, please be advised that all issues and correspondence are to be directed to Kelly Warren, the office manager. Please be assured that the board and staff are committed to keeping the organisation functioning effectively whilst we determine the future direction of our management.

Yours Sincerely

Cara Honeychurch

Chairperson

Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited

Given that this announcement doesn't mince its words and makes no mention of wishing her god luck in future endeavours as would normally be found where the separation is amicable, it would appear that the separation is anything but.

I am not making any insinuation whatsoever, just an observation.

I don't believe that the replacement needs to be from the bowling world.

There are plenty of smart business people out there who can do the job.

If they have an interest in bowling then it's a bonus.

Have to wonder why we need a CEO at all, we do have a functioning board which is perfectly capable of making and taking business decisions.
Maybe they could go back to operating without a figurehead.

The salary paid to the CEO reputed to be around 6 figures, could easily be divided amongst the States and used to create and duplicate the Queensland Schools program which is a very successful and professionally run operation.

It should have been the first task of any CEO to apply the program Nationally.
We appear to be falling well behind the other sports as far as Junior development is concerned.

We don't need a smart business person at this point in time
We need an industry experienced person who has the respect of
bowlers who take or want to take the game seriously and steer
that part of the game back into the sport we want it to be

If that person can do that then people around them on boards will
support them and help to stop the rubbish and go nowhere money
wasting TBA we have had for some years now

We are in the position we are in due to peoples personal agendas
rather than a focus on what is good for the game
AMF have shafted the TBA , thanks Roy for that passing gesture.

We need ONE association and governing body in this country then we can
get proper government funding and a decent membership again
Other local associations all need to be affilated with the TBA

Lets all remember this must be approached for the greater good
of Bowling, Full stop

Oh and by the way Goodbye Gillian you did nothing but set
us back 5 years, Thanks again Roy

AT least Kelly Returned my Call the other day
Thats more that anyone else at the TBA office has done before

Is the position going to be advertised??

I think maybe not
I am led to believe we will have a person appointed
to the role on a trial basis very shortly.

There is a board meeting in Vic in about a week i think

Gordon Little gets my vote...

  • A very smart business person...
  • He has industry experience...
  • Earns the respect of his board...

Just 3 of many qualities that are needed, and that I witnessed first hand working under him at TBAQ...He did wonders with the team he had over the years to get Old association in the strong position it is in today...

I am sure TBA are smart enough to realise that they NEED TO DO whatever it takes to get Gordon in that position...

He gets my vote hands down...

I know Cara already holds the position of Chairperson but one should not forget the credentials of Cara in both the bowling and business world. The TBA would be smart to offer Cara this role. Whether she is willing or able to accept, is another story, but Cara would definately be my first choice.

Cara has a very good, well paid position already. The TBA role would not replace her income, even closely, so i doubt she is available
