AUSSIE BOWLERS RANKED #1 AND #2 IN ASIAN ZONE RANKINGS

The outstanding success of Aussie bowlers Jason Belmonte and Ann Maree Putney at the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup held recently in Russia has contributed to elevating the pair to #1 and #2 seeds respectively in the sport’s Asian Zone rankings.

Two-handed bowler, Jason Belmonte from Orange, Australia holds a commanding lead in the men’s division on 380 points, 40 points ahead of Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong and Indonesia’s Ryan Lalisang is a close third on 313. At present, bowlers from Malaysia, Qatar, Thailand, UAE and Kuwait make up the remaining five who have made the cut for the 2007 World Ranking Masters tournament.

The top eight male and female bowlers from the sport’s three zones (Europe, America and Asia) will compete for the title of WTBA World Ranking Masters champion in Jakarta from 30 April-6 May 2008.

Korea’s Kim Eun Jung tops the female rankings on 353 points, with Ann Maree Putney from Newcastle, Australia second on 335, well ahead of Korea’s Choi Jin A on 260. Two bowlers from Malaysia and one each from Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore currently make up the top eight in the women’s division.

Don't we have some amazing talent here in Australia. Just need to identify and give people opportunities to excell.
Ann-Maree and Jason are classic examples and I congratulate them on their incredible journey and for bringing bowling back into the spotlight.
