2009 Vili's Super league

Dear all

Below is a list of the expected starters for the 34th season of the Super League
There is possibly one more person coming over from Victoria who will commence bowling in the new year
Plus it is also possible Cameron will need to miss this season due to other commitments

But it is still looking like we will have 28 or 30 players
Start date is NEXT Monday 9th November
Break over Christmas- last night is Dec 14th and come back 18th January - based on these numbers we expect to finish next season by the end of June
It will be one round only plus a positional round

Please advise if you have anyone else or things have changed with your situation - we will only have a maximum of 30 players leaving one pair for breakdown or other situations.

Regards
Greg

Hi group

Hopefully I will be able to tell you tomorrow night about next Saturdays scheduled TV playoffs.
I was promised a phone call on Friday but nothing as yet, so I'm hopeful of a call any time to confirm it's on.

But we have been put in this amazing situation because of sponsorship differences between AMF & ABPA of which we are caught in the middle.

It's incredible the comments I pick up through contacts at work who are not regular bowlers that watch this show (both super league and other games) and yet we still get these hassles.

No wonder bowling can never get off the ground to become a recognised sport of any form with this constant bickering, it happens every few years in one form or another and just sends any previous progress made into reverse gear.

Attached is the start up sheet for season 33 which shows we have 28 players.

Results for last season will be confirmed as soon as we know if the TV is on next Saturday. We all know Tony Stoppel won the league "it's on facebook - Stacey has already spent the money ?"
The prize money for the TV will go back to our sponsor if this doesn't happen, but Vili has confirmed the $2,000 travel draw will still take place at either the TV presentation or a meeting to be advised ASAP.

Really sorry about having no firm answer for you - but all will happen soon one way or another.
Carlos and Joel if you can give me your bank details so we can transfer prizefunds as soon as this gets cleared up. Any other members who may have changed bank accounts or want it into a different bank account could you please bring the information tomorrow night.

Regards
Greg

Sorry guys I made a error on the public holidays for next year - here is the correct version (sorry it's a bit ugly but I've opened it up to make it easier to read.

Also the attached start up sheet shows who you are playing tonight
we also get the family fueds over early with the Modra's and the Weisz's both on tonight as normal the draw is done in alphabetal order.

Just for your info probably until Christmas
Peter Woods is bowling for Brenton Manning
Chris Cummins is bowling for Phil Drummond who is moving to Adelaide from Alice Springs.

There are subs listed on the standing sheet with phone numbers for Sam Parrella, Cameron MacKinnon, and Chris Cummins
so if anyone else wants to be listed here give me your mobile or phone numbers

Regards
Greg

what a wonderful place Crossroad is ATM. League average has dropped to 183 :wtf1:??? that good. Well Crap mine dropped to a massive 174 - thats about 46 pins a game:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:.... I think a had that about 20 years ago :eek::eek: Hope its fixed sooon or heads might :giljotiini:

As far I know the kegel is back and wont leave again Dave.

Hopefully it will be a bit better and consistent.

Cheers

Tony

Well most of the players celebrated the return of the Kegal and Tim's hard efforts to get the lanes consistant again ?

Some very nice series
Dion Alexander 985 "beat a very unlucky Greg Keep ?"
Frosty G puts four together for a 983, and picked up $20 with 2 high games including a 280
Matt Bernhardt confirmed he wants to stay near the top with a 971 and a high game of 278 which missed a $10 prize due to Frosty's 280 "dam"
Tony Stoppel 917
Ashley Warren 915

Could have easily been a $1500 payout for 3 1000 series with a little more luck !

Thanks
Greg

Week 5 saw our first 1000 and what a series it was 1092 by Dion Alexander and NO 300 was needed

279 - 258 - 279 - 276

not to bad at all fella

To celebrate this and Christmas next Monday 14th December which is our last round before a few weeks off over Christmas
after bowling we are all heading down to Cafe De Vili's for a Christmas drink and dinner.

Plus for members of last season's league who are present there will be a draw for the $2,000 travel voucher - but remember you must be there to qualify.
We will also have our AGM to do the paper work etc

All members of last season and this season new players are welcome to attend with partners...... start time should be 7.30 or 7.45 by the time we all get there.

Can you please return by email or ring me to confirm your attendance and numbers for catering purposes.

There has been some renovations at Vili's since our last function so there is now more space and easy to seperate the area off.

Regards
Greg

A good night for most with some good scores across the house
Choke of the night went to Greg Keep in the first game who started with the first 8 - split in the 9th and then missed simple spare in 10th for a 242
Dekland Modra "another lefty" punched out in the 10th to win the game with 254 !

After bowling we went to Cafe De Vili's for a Christmas feed and drink courtesy of our sponsor which we thank him very much for everything
We also had the draw for the $2,000 travel prize and strangely enough we were sitting at tables of 4 and the last 4 names in the hat were all sitting at the one table "spooky"
but the winner for a second time Mr Ashley Warren.

We look forward to the New Year which starts on January 18th

Regards
Greg

Hi guys

Good start to the new year and we saw Dion slip in the last game to miss his second 1,000 by only 3 pins

Michael Mittiga has taken over the place previously held by Michael Weisz - Michael previously bowled in the league many moons ago - welcome back

Also we can now officially welcome Phil Drummond to the league as he has migrated to SA

NO BOWLING NEXT WEEK due to many having a long weekend with the Tuesday holiday and the disappearance of the SA Cup (hopefully for a short time only)

Regards
Greg

Not one but 2 300's on Monday night
Congratulations to Zac Krebbekx who opened up in the first game with a great 300
Zac followed up with 3 good games of 214, 247, 235 to just miss a bonus $500 with a 996 series

On the neighbouring pair Alex Bridge who was subing for Peter Jones was just warming up with a 175, but got better with 198, 216, and a 300 to finish
It was Alex's way to say see you later to Brenton Manning who unfortunately is pulling out for the rest of the season for the surgeons to do a bit more digging around in his knee. So we wish you all the best mate and hopefully see you back in August for the next season. Brenton still had 876 winning 2.

Dion Alexander is also still in the clouds a few pairs away playing Louise Ingoe. He shot 244, 226, 247, 268 for a 985 series
Which may annoy him as he added it up to 975 so you missed your $500 by less than you think.
Dion did however pick up $20 for bowler of the month over the last 4 weeks he shot 4051 for 16 games = 253 average beating Tony Stoppel by nearly 500 pins !!!! very nice fella....

Regards
Greg

Well after 2 great 300's last week, both with a good series too what could we do to top that off ?

Ashley Warren fresh off the plane from his international appearance in the youth in some far off country most of us will never see - though he would put on a show

well it was interesting but not spectacular, up against Louise Ingoe

141, 300, 191, 187 for a 819 !!!

As I was bowling next to him I can add some commentary - the 300 was superb every ball was smooth and spot on the mark - the other 3 games = blah blah blah

Greg

Interesting results this week causing the ladder to look pretty tight in some areas
Tony Stoppel let Dion Alexander know he wanted that top spot 984 to 934 with Tony having 3 wins

Also a sad loss is news that Joel Lovegrove is heading back to Victoria after making some good friends in Adelaide

Joel's spot will probably be taken by first reserve Dave Drummond but if not it will be offered to next on the list being Graham Simpson

Greg

Few good games last week and we are seeing the average edge back up after a pretty tough first half of the season

Please note that David Drummond who was next on the joining list is taking over Joel Lovegrove's spot who is moving back to Melbourne

Joel is a great competitor and any time you want to come back to Adelaide I'm sure we will all welcome you - best of luck

Also just on the waiting list to join - just acknowledging Graham Simpson who is next on the list - hope to see you soon The next season will probably be commencing 26th July and just advance warning there will be a cost increase due to increased bowling fees.

Regards
Greg

Some pretty good scores around the bowl on Monday night

Conor Quail nearly picked up $ 500 for a 998 series "that works out at $250 per pin"
but a nice series of 209, 279, 247, 263

Plus a mass of other good games - those over 250 were
Jason Turai............. 252
Michael Mittiga....... 255
Geoff Barry............. 279
Dave Drummond...... 276
Greg Keep.............. 263
Tony Long.............. 288
Tony Stoppel.......... 252 - 256

No bowling next week due to the long weekend

Tony Long set the pace this week with a nice 964 series against Peter Jones
games of ....247, 245, 236, 236
Strangely after 13 weeks Dion Alexander remains the only person with a 1,000 series and the $500 bonus ??

League average is sitting at 197.14 over 1456 games
