    Thanks to our volunteers

SA is blessed with a handful of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly for our sport. They are at every tournament, every SATBA meeting, they coach and encourage. Without them, the sport would be lost. Beneath these tireless workers sit the other supporters, the coaches, the parents and...

100 over ave twice at village

Congrats to young Mr Taylor who started the night with a fabulous 276 game which was more than 100 over average. This happened to be done by Laurie Taylor (who is the father of SA Shield bowler Micheal) so I imagine there will be some fun at home tonight. Congrats also to James Wragg who also...

    Adam Sims 724 series

Great to see a young up and coming bowler get his first 700 series on Sunday morning. Adam also averaged about 210 over 9 games to take home three first places from three events. Congratulations young sir, the first of many I am sure. Des

Be proud of your shield team Tassie

Tasmania recently sent 7 boys and 7 girls to the compete in the President Shield competition. Many of these bowlers were quite young (inlcuding my son who is only 14) and they had to compete against the best under 18 year olds in the country. At the end of day 1, the boys were in the medal...

Craig Murray 300 at Junior Nationals

Huge congrats to Craig on bowling the perfecto at the Nats yesterday. Craig looked totally relaxed as he let the 12th go and it hit flush in the pocket. Thoroughly deserved and well overdue.

    Zac Krebbekx 300

In the very first game of the SA championships last night Zac bowled a wonderful 300 game (number five I think). Congrats Zac and what a way to start the championships.

    Chris Barnes - Mr Consistent

Just looking at the scores in the PBA Tournament of Champions and saw Chris Barne's last 17 games. He averaged 231 without bowling a 250 game. No wonder this guy is always up there!! Game by game is as follows: 246 232 211 247 248 206 227 235 224 224 224 223 248 227 234 233...

    Michael Taylor 700 series

Congrats to young Michael Taylor who bowled his first ever 700 series last night at Village. A couple of solid 250 games and 200 plus gave him a series of around 720 (not sure of the exact scores), with a nice little 8 bagger along the way. Well done mate, the first of many I am sure. Des

    James Wragg 681 series

With all the high scores posted here, a 681 series might not sound too much but it is always good to see juniors bowling their highest series. James is only 14 and until 12 months ago was a serious competitive swimmer (6 swimming training sessions a week plus bowing practice and leagues)...

    Just an idea

There has been a lot of talk about what is right and wrong with Rauchig. One idea that I had was to find a way that might bring in more spectators. This should lead to more sponsors and hopefully TV coverage. It seems to me that we need to put on the tournament when more people can get to...

    Craig Murray on fire

Huge congrats to Craig Murray, Last night at Salisbury he bowled 788 with all three games in the 260's Tonight at Village he started with his highest ever score (290) and bowled over 750 again . That's about a lazy 255 average over his last 6 games. Congrats Des W Ps: Shows what...

    Association Cup - WTF?

For those who don't know me, rarely do I get emotional or upset *COUGH* The Association Cup has been a great tournament which has allowed junior bowlers to compete in a team environment with adult bowlers. Often run over two days and in great spirit, it was enjoyed by all who competed...

    Conor Quail 288 and 788

Having started with 225 and 275, Conor needed his first 300 to make his first 800 series. After the first 10, buries the 11th to leave a frigid, ice cold ten pin. Two of the best games you will ever see from this young champion. I know how much you wanted this Conor but keep your chin...

    Congratulations TBA SA

The State champs were held over the weekend at Bowland Salisbury. The team from TBA SA performed wonderfully well, everything ran like clockwork, they were always approachable and flexible when needed. Even the presentation ceremony didn't go on too long. It was also great to see so many...

Why are there no age junior state teams?

Having been involved in many sports, I have noticed that most of them have a number of age state teams (13 and under, 15 and under etc). There are very few sports that have only one junior team. Swimming has state junior age comps from as young as 8 or 9. The whole team goes away together...

    I bowled 221 and lost to a 12 y.o.

On a night where no-one else even looked like bowling 200, I bowled a 221 game and lost to my 12 year old son. James bowled a 228 game. It was his first time over 200 and his first 500 series. I hope he has many more games like this in the future.

    The occassional sponsor

Occassionally I have spare cash that could be used to sponsor a bowler into a tournament. I do not know how often this would happen, nor what bowlers could use some assistance (with the exception of one bowler). I want to create a register of bowlers who would like to compete in tournaments...

    Highest difference in average

I have just started in two new leagues. In the first week, I bowled well in one and had a Barry Crocker in the other. The end result was that I had a 171 average in one league and a 222 in the other for a difference of 51 pins. It's only the first week, I know but it still looks silly and got...
