hey everyone. if u bowl all spares in your game, and on the last shot of your game you bowl a strike. would this still be a all spare game. or can others come up with reasons why its not.

no because you have to leave nine or less for i to be a all spare game, if you strike on the last shot you don't get the all spare game.

The all spare game is awarded for achieving a spare in all 10 frame.
If a strike is thrown on the last ball then it is still classed as an all spare game.

Correct. :)

yer i was having a debate with a mate and we couldnt decide if it was still a all spare game. the only argument i have, a strike is called a strike isnt it?

Yes that is correct, a strike IS a strike, however you cannot get a spare in the 12th frame because you only have 1 shot.

Even though MOST people spare it anyway it IS against the RULES to do so UNLESS you are on the 12th frame of your last game of the night.

No too many people know this rule here in Orange.

Anyway what Im saying is that if you get 10 spares in a row from the 1st frame you have yourself an "All Spare Game".

no because if you get ten spares in a row and strike on the last shot it isn't a all spare game you have to get 9 or lower.

But if u cant get a spare, is there anything wrong with gettin a strike? Cause if u got a spare in every spareable shot, then it should still be an all spare game. I guess it comes down to what each person thinks.

So pretty much by this you are saying that if a person has gone the first 10 spares and only have their bonus ball to go, that they have to fix their last shot and purposely not get the maximum count they can???

They've already spared the 10 frames, the bonus ball can have any result on it... hence it being called the BONUS ball.

Whether they strike, foul, gutter or anything in between on the final ball, they have bowled an ALL SPARE GAME!!!

Good to see so much interest in MY All Spare game on Wednesday night - I am counting it as an All Spare Game and it is only my second one in 32 years of bowling - my first one many, many years ago at Clayfield was exactly the same with a strike in the 12th frame.......with the modern equipment these days, it is HARD to not bowl the odd strike!!!!!!!!!!!! so - for me - ALL SPARE!!

If you go by the rules ( and I know a lot don`t even know the rules )
the game is an all spare game, regardless of the count of the BONUS ball.

The bonus ball is irrelevant in the tenth frame when it comes to an all spare game as the requirements for an all spare game are simple, 10 frames = 10 spares. The sport does not encourage endeavour for less than the maximum result so I would hope that you do attempt to bowl a strike on the bonus ball in the tenth rather than throw off. Maximum count is always the best result.

A dutch 200 game is different however as you require alternative strikes and spares to achieve the feat. However it does not encourage going for less than the maximum. Both awards should only be achieved when strings of strikes (dutch 200) or strikes (all spare) genuinely just are not happenening.

i had 9 spares in one game followed by a strike. and my coach classed this as an all spare game, i dnt no if this is relevent but i always thawt that if it haad to be 9 spares and a 9 or less to be a al spare game!

Why so much guessing........
TBA website, Rules and Regulations....version 6.1..18/5/05
Regulation 403....page 23
All Spare ...("for sparing all TEN frames in a game")
NO MENTION OF WHAT YOU GET ON THE BONUS BALL !!!!!

Why is it a "regulation" that i have to call it an "all spare" game...
 #-o ..how about....." no strike game"..... :eek:nfire:

We've established that the bonus ball is irrelevant after a spare in the 10th..but..

what about a strike then a nine spare (X9/) in the 10th frame?

in other words:

9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ X9/

You have spared all 10 frames, and the 9 in the 10th..well I am not sure if it is classed as a bonus ball or not, as it is not the last possible ball that can count pins in the frame.

The rule for the award in the TBA rule book is "for sparing all 10 frames in a game". Technically in that instance you have.

My thought is that it's not an all spare game, does anyone know for sure?

It is not an all spare game, because you have struck in the tenth frame. After you get a mark in the tenth frame, the one (after a spare) or two (after a strike) extra balls you get to throw are purely for the purpose of calculating what your tenth frame mark is worth. If you strike in the tenth frame, then go 9/, you technically don't have a spare - you have simply scored ten bonus pins for your strike.

Hi, just to clear things up, I work at the MTBA and an all spare game is awarded if you get 10 spares in a row, it doesn't matter what is bowled on the last "extra" ball, but it must be all spares throughout the game. If you get a strike the first ball of the tenth frame, then the all spare game no longer applies.

E.g it must be 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ ? , this is the only way you can get an all spare game.
