NORTH QUEENSLAND 300 GAMES

I bowled one in the 2007 Mackay Open, and then again in the 2008 Mackay Open.
Gary Bailey Bowled on in the 2007 Open, and Dale Warren bowled one in the 2008 Open if I can remember correctly.

James Dent bowled one late last year, plus there were a few others by some of the locals, but I cant remember exactly.

Thanks Hamish,

I have included one of yours and Gary's but I am only chasing 300 games bowled by NQ residents (bowled at home and abroad).

All will be revealed in the next couple of weeks and all of my posts will make a bit more sense.

Thanks for everyone's help

Steve :D

That's all I have for now - I know Darren Harris has bowled a 300 but will have to find out date.

Also special thanks to Dianne Reeves for helping me with this info.

Apparently there were 4 x 300's bowled by Peter Cottam here in Innisfail during the time Mr Robbie Buckley owned the centre. There was a break away group called the GLLA (no idea what the heck that is) and that is why there is no record. As far as records go, Jessica Starkey was the first ever 300 game in Innisfail (this is supported by previous owners John Wilk and Georgina Duggan - 13 years at Innisfail) Having said all of that, I am assured that 4 x 300 games were bowled by Peter. Perhaps Robbie Buckley can shed some light.

I poured over all the minutes of meetings past since 1986 and there is ABSOLUTELY NO RECORD of such achievements. I am still investigating however.

Thaks 'Liss and EJ,

Yes 'Liss the Cruisers are on me :D :D

By the way Darren Harris bowled his 300 in August 1998 and John Wilk also bowled one in Mackay September 1998.

Apparently Natasha Walker bowled one in Mackay, are you able to find out the dates for that?

EJ I am bowling league with Robbie tonight so I will see him about that.

Cheers

Sunshine Bowl is the old name for Tweed Heads Bowl - it is now called Coolangatta Tweed - name change. Qld service include this centre as a Qld centre as it is on the border of NSW and Qld. I know the NSW register recognise it as a NSW centre as it has a NSW postcode.

Best of luck with compiling the history - we should always have records and thankfully for persons like yourself and the rest of the bowling community we have a chance to get it all together. North in the old terms was North of Rockhampton.

Hi Gail,

Thanks for the reply.

The NQ area for the purposes of my records is the actual North Queensland areas that make up the Inter City Shield, so that is;

Atherton
Cairns
Innisfail
Mount Louisa
Kirwan
Ayr
Mackay
Mount Isa

There used to be bowling centres at Bowen and Charters Towers, but I don't think anyone ever bowled 300 there.

I really think the records and tradition of bowling are super important, and the NQ area has such a rich history that I thought it was important to document it (I probably need to get a life :D:D).

Cheers
