Asymmetrical patterns

Has this type of pattern ever been used in Australia?

Asymmetrical patterns - Used in some lanes to counter the natural advantage that left-handed rollers would have on most symmetrical oiling patterns. More oil is placed on the right hand boards so that it doesn't wear away as quickly. Although there are no BTBA rules against asymmetrical patterns, they are not generally used. With such a pattern, right handed players would benefit from a more heavily oiled lane in the first few games of the day

the only problem with doing that is the fact you will incur more carry down and the shot would be different to the lefties. it is a good idea if it worked but i don't think it would...:)

Ive seen it in reverse in the Melbourne cup a few yrs back, a pattern shift to open up the left a bit!!

how about just making the left side of the lane have less oil in the heads and in the 5 to 13 board area but just put a bit more lenght on it so it should play the same and will also dry out pretty quick for them too:p;)
