The next best effort came from Sid Ciancio, the only lefty to make the cut, with 11, followed by Ian Hughes, Morty Douglass, Lawrie Hill and Vaughan White with 10 each.

There was some very nice bowling from a number of the locals (both adult and junior) in the field (most notably Evan Matthews); it's a pity a few more of them don't bowl the Wide Bay Circuit.

SPECIAL MENTION should be made of Yvette Lawton, the only female in the field. Bowling in her first big tournament (outside the Junior ranks, of course), this talented 15 year old was totally unfazed by the pressure and finished with a highly commendable average of 186. Yvette, whose Coach has just moved her up to 14lb balls (previously 12 1/2lb) with excellent results, is looking forward to bowling in her 12th (yes, 12th) Junior Nationals over the next few weeks. It is easy to see that this young lady will be a force to be reckoned with over the coming years. Well done Yvette.

Congratulations to Brando on back-to-back wins in the Toowoomba Sunset Classic

and to Evan Matthews on bowling the only 300 of the weekend (game 4).

There was also another three 279 games bowled during matchplay - Morty Douglass, Chris Quail and Ian Hughes, plus a 276 from Lawrie Hill.

The "Hard-Man" Award goes to Vaughan White, who won 12 of his 15 games and the Award for the best one-liner, to Lawrie Hill: This guy must not like me, he called me Lawrie , quipped "The Animal", when being called up by the MC to receive his prize money.

Big Thank-you's to Pocket Shot (Morty Douglass), the Circuit's Principal Sponsor, and to Charlie Paterson and all his staff and volunter helpers for a very well run Tournament. The only disappointing note (
icon_sad.gif
) was that, like the other three stops on the Wide Bay Grand Prix Circuit so far this year, the numbers were well down on the corresponding event in 2000.

The next stop on the Circuit is the 2001 Queensland Open at Hervey Bay on 12/13 August, so mark it in your diary now and bring the family and/or friends along for an enjoyable weekend at the beach.
