The New and Improved Perth Cup

Just a little reminder to everyone that this years Perth Cup is only weeks away and with an enhanced prize fund and new format this year squads are expected to fill quickly. My spies tell me that the cut will be top 16 this year with $3000 for 1st and 16th recieving around $600. (Shane I hope this is correct) So if your thinking of heading over start making your arrangements asap. I havent seen any entry forms as yet but they wont be far away. The Bunbury Open is also on again this year and will be held the week prior to Perth. Bunbury is a 2hr drive south of Perth and the Bunbury crew always put on a good show for the bowlers from the big smoke and its a great warm up for Perth Cup. So with Bunbury, Perth and of course Melbourne the following week it should be a great 3 weeks bowling. If I can be of any assistance just let me know or you can log into the Fairlanes website for more details.

PS Rumour has it that the Mack Truck may be making the trip for Perth and Melbourne so lets hope great man can make it back down-under.

Hey BAron any chance you could me up for the week ??????????????

When are the entry forms coming out?

I think its a very smart move to reduce the cut.

1 - It makes for a tougher matchplay field

2 - It allows our east coast visitors more time to arrange flights home Monday night.

3 - More money available for those that make the cut

We talked about this in depth 2 yrs ago, if you remember, and great that the centre has thought long and hard.

Its not easy to do, i.e. change an events format that has been one of the more successful events in the NAtion for the past 20 years, however times are a changing and the last few years havent lived up to the late 80's and early 90's entries, so hopefully ths sublte change will increase participation

I'm sure Mack if he goes will be going for one thing and one thing only and thats alot of golf with a bit of Bowling thrown in for good measure.

I hear Frawls and Sue are going to Egypt next week and with MAck going i'm sure the boys will be looking for a game of golf there tooo, alas theres a casino instead to compensate.
