The Ashes

Dark Assailant

i tell ya looking at this mornings 20, 20 match with england and australia. i recon england will take it because england gave it everything they had and they totally rubbed the aussies faces in it with getting the aussies out for
79

that game was only a bit of hit and giggle, england finally win something against the aussies for the first time in 16 years and everyone thinks they are going to kick our ass. This ashes series may be a bit closer then the previous 6 or so but it will still be a 4-0 or 4-1 series victory for the aussies.

Yeah australia was hardly playing defencive, the whole idea of 20 20 is to go out there and try to hit absolutly everything for 6, its a crowd pleaser and a bit of fun. Australia will take the ashes once again.

Adam, I have no idea what they put in the water in Bathurst, but it must make you delirious. Australia will win the Ashes, again, the top order of Australia will come out on top, again, and Warne and the rest of the bowlers will hurt England, again. Australians seem to have the edge. Coming from America originally, that is one thing that I notice about Australian athletes. Put on an Australian jumper, and they grow and improve, and become nearly invincible........now if only the soccer team could do the same......

Yeah... I wouldn't read too much into the 20/20 game. As Resurrection said, that kind of game is a bit of a hit and giggle. Didn't that format of the game come from England as well? If it did, then I'm not surprised that England won it, but slogging won't help them during the Ashes series.

Bring on the Ashes, Australia certainly knows how to play "proper" (Test) cricket. At least it will be on TV (SBS I think) so should be good. Australia to win but in a much more closer series I think, because England haven't been playing too badly recently.

C'mon Aussie C'mon!

You're going to predict the outcome of the whole Ashes series just by one 20/20 game.... you're a thinker aren't you?

With 20/20 you either score at ridiculous rates or die trying.

Hi All,

I realise that you can't judge how an entire tour is going to go by one Twenty20 game, it is a bit of a hit and giggle. But 2 further games into the tour and things seem to be getting worse, with one-dayer losses to Somerset (a county side) and - let me doublecheck this - Bangladesh!! :)

The last time I saw an aussie cricket side in this sort of slump it ended the career of captain Steve Waugh, when they didn't even make the finals of their own VB series in the summer of 2001-2.

I'm sure that the aussie cricket team will snap out of it, and soon. They are far too classy to keep performing like this for long, and I'd hate to be in the side that cops it when this does happen. But until this happens the whole ashes series - indeed the whole northern summer - carries quite a bit more interest from cricket fans all round the world, not just in England, Bangladesh or Australia.

WAY TO GO BANGLADESH!!!!!!!!

David.

Australia's form slump has been centred around 20/20 and one day games.
Although there is really no excuses from the World Champions, the 3 day games and test matches are where Australia really excel. In my opinion, Australia has always been a vulnerable one day side, a vulnerability put down to their mandatory rotation policy.

Australia will really show their authority in the test arena. While England have been the big improvers over the past two years, can they perform under pressure from the best side in the world? This is England's acid test, and I hope they perform well because it makes for the most competitive ashes series in the last two decades.

Test cricket has been boring since Australia has been the dominant force.
Will the ashes series live up to all our expectations?
You bet it will!

While England will be very competitive, I think Australia will win 3-1 or 4-1.

All I can say is BRING IT ON!

Good to see the OX is patriotic.........

I hate to see the aussies lose at nething......................Sad

Whos with me when I say lets Pack OX up and send him overseas to be with the English Cricket Team......One Way!!

Then we can crack really bad jokes about the English Cricket team to him all year. Like 'Whats the difference between the English Cricket team and 747? The 747 stops whinging when it gets to Sydney!'
HAHAHAHAHAHA

Come on Aussie!!!!

Later Da Cowman!

listen i love the aussie but it is good to see these teams now finally take to them and finally give them a run for there money instead of them being on there high horses
