Hello all.
Just been reading back through some old classic Aussie bowling stuff on here and thought instead of me reading some unnecessary rants etc...I thought it be good to see if anyone wants put some names to faces. Yes this photo was on here quite a few years back but it might give you all a good rewind...if you were born back then that is...LOL!

This has been on before, but I will start with the easy one's
Back row; Minjoy,Velo, ?, Mitchell, ?, ?, Williams, Cook, ?
Next row; Geoghan, ?,?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, Batson
Front row; ?, Hoskins, ?, Kury
The 2 in Jackets; Hutchinson, O'Keefe

Next to Batson is Rod Thomson (WA). Centre of the Middle row is (I think) Brian Hamer (WA). Far right of the back row is, I think, Alan Atkins (Qld) and the other side of Bob Cook is Gary(?) Williams (NSW)

Is the tall gentleman in the back row possibly Tony Plenca (Qld)?

Willey, the one you have down as Joe Velo is Barry Wallace

Thanks for that Brenton, I was not sure but it did look like Velo, I think your right about Hamer, I remembered his name later, same as Whillans and Alan Atkins, I bowled 1982 Brisbane Cup with them. I have Colin Mitchell in the back row but I worked with him in 1979 and I don't recall him making a final.

Everyone I can name has been named. (I was eleven and didn't even bowl at the time though!) But check out how fit everyone looks!

Brenton, the good looking young gentleman between Keith Sly and Brian Hamer is me, and this was taken at Bankstown

Actually Barry I thought it was either Omar Sharif - or possibly John Holmes! See you next weekend - bring plenty, the Casino needs all it can get....and it likes as much of yours as possible.

Cheers

Steve

It was a much less politically correct time. Gary Williams answered to the nickname of "Snowflake"

Thanks Dale. Should have remembered that.
Jeez, I smiled seeing Garry Williams there. What a great fellow! And a really good dancer! :)

He used to claim the World Cup spot was his every year as he was the only real Australian in the field!

Further to your Snowflake reference, Garry Williams and Graham Bacon always Bowled Championships, under the Team name of Salt and Pepper.

Next row, 4th from left looks like Frank Ryan but I'm probably way off the mark... I would have been 8...
