Hmmmm 5 teams for the "new" De Veer. Well done Alex and co for your fabulous forsight. The changes proved to be successful, all squads full of more average bowlers (HA!!) and not to mention the absolute battle to qualify for the restriced cup (not enough numbes in either the mens or womens divisions.) The sands from altona beach appeared to blow in despite your efforts.

"The Board of TBA unanimously agreed to make the change and again I must reinforce our stance that we see this as an opportunity for more average bowlers to be able to participate in a team event at our national championships which is what we see as a very positive result for our sport."

I find it amazing how this board could not have forseen the result when everyone else could.
The 'average' bowler is the bread and butter of the sport. Most lower average bowlers don't bowl in tournaments because they need to build their confidence or they don't understand the grading levels mean you are not bowling against 200 ave bowlers. Rachiug level bowlers bowl tournaments constantly, but they are the minority of the sport. TBA needs to cater for everyone, which WDV did. Just because a few Rachuig bowlers have the elitest syndrome and could not handle seeing Restricted bowlers in state shirts - the sport is suffering. You end with the skewed distribution.

As much as Alex & co believe they are catering for all - they are most definately not.
Bring on Holt Challenge!
