Hi ,

I would like some tips on improving my balance during my delivery as I feel very unstable after the release of the ball.I am by no means a pro bowler but would really appreciate any constructive feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Poida...

Welcome to the TB forum.

I'm no expert just a league hack like most around here so all I can offer is what I do to help me balance at the foul line and throughout the whole approach.

If I feel like I'm falling off my shot or standing upright to quick I feel unbalanced. To stop this I try a few things.

Firstly I slow my approach down by shortening my first step or moving a short step up the approach. I concentrate on getting my left arm out nice and firm to help balance the throughout the approach and lastly i make sure my knee bend is good and I stay down throughout the release.

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks also for that advice.

I have shot a video but I was not sure if I would look like a goose posting it on here.

I noticed a few things to focus on. One of which being very unstable and I look like I am not flowing through the release. This may be due to playing 13 games recently (last weekend) in a tournament.

So I am a long way from being any sort of decent bowler at this stage.

Way too many things can cause this
without having a look at you bowling
I would not like to lead you on a goose chase

If you want to send me something I will have a look for you

G'Day! Good advice from roysa and Geoff. Like Geoff says, there's lots of variables here, but three things I can recommend that improve my balance immensely are letting the ball swing my arm, moving up the approach a bit like roysa says to slow my feet and imagining keeping my head steady throughout the release, as if I were balancing a beer on my head. And could only sip it if I didn't spill any! :)

If your head is steady, then so is your target. And that must mean your balance is better. A tip on this one bend your knees so you can keep your back a bit straighter to your target.

Cheers,
Jason

P.s. look up bowling balance line drill and bowling one step drill. Lots of good resources out there.
