The classic starting point for ball drilling is (or used to be) Bill Taylors' "Fitting and Drilling a Bowling Ball", #5 on BJI list of greatest bowling books of all time. Sadly, it appears to be out of print. There is at least one video series on ball drilling & fitting, by Dave Smart. No idea what it's like.
