Graham Allen has taken top honours for the first event of the 2011 Wide Bay Circuit, The Gympie Grand Slam. He finished qualifying in first and stage 1 matchplay in second, before finishing second heading into the 5 man step ladder final. The first match saw 300 shooter Nathan Stein defeat Rob Kaluci and Carl Bottomley. Stein moved on to play Allen, Allen then moved on to meet Jason Walsh in the title match. Walsh showed sheer guts and talent to be second in qualifying before leading both stages of matchplay. In the final, Allen had the better look and capitalized by starting with a string of strikes, while Walsh struck on the right lane and struggled with the left. A flush pocket 9 pin slowed Allen briefly, but he was back on the strike train to shut Walsh out and cruise to a comfortable victory.
