On behalf of many people in South Australia I would ike to give my deepest sympathy wishes to John and the family.

Although I did not know Joan personally, if she was involved in Tenpin Bowling half as much as John, I am positively sure she will be very missed! Our thoughts and love go out to you.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolence go out to John and all the family upon hearing the shock news of the passing of Joan.
I was deeply shocked to receive the phone call regarding the news in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Joan had been a friend to myself and my family for more than 25 years.

Joan was a very spritely 84 years of age and, was still actively involved in our sport as a player in the Morning Star League on Tuesday mornings at Moonah.
She was also a long time volunteer in the sport having been active on various committees and leagues and the Board of the former STTBA (now HTBA) for many decades.
Joan started bowling at our Moonah centre in late 1962 and very much loved the game.
On the day of her passing, Joan was set to attend a dinner for the Morning Star League ladies at the Casino.
Today the funeral was held at Hooper & Burgess in North Hobart on a bitterly freezing day, although a very sad occasion, it was heartening to see many of the distinguished players & administrators of our sport - both past and present - in attendance.

Farewell to a grand old lady.

A sad day in bowling 4 the passing of one of the most lovely ladies and soft hearted human beings i have ever known .Joan used too watch me bowl in every S.T.T.B.A tournament and i used too chat too her constantly about life and my bowling . I even had the pleasure of bowling with her in the mixed doubles tournament(ELSIE ROBINS MIXED DOUBLES) and i bowled around 640 for 3 games and she told that wasn't good enough 4 someone like me and at the time i was happy with it ,but Joan was right ,you should never be happy with what you get,,you should always strive harder and harder everytime you step out there and i have tried ever since she said that to me. Best wishes to you John and family who loved her dearly and i sure will miss her face behind the lanes when i am bowling. Joan will be bowling in that great bowling alley in heaven and god bless her and her family amen .
