Devonport Junior Masters Results

The Devonport Associated conducted their annual Open and Restricted Masters events yesterday (Sunday 19/08/01)


The restricted events were held over 5 games plus handicap.

The girls event was taken out by Kara Bunting of Launceston with Anita Brunacci, also of Launceston coming in second.

A full field of 8 bowlers contested the boys restricted.
In a very close finish Aiden Stone of Devonport took first place from Andrew Taylor. Aiden was contesting his first masters tournament.

The Open Masters were bowled over 7 games with the highest scratch pinfall deciding the placings.
The Devonport conditions were tough and dry, so low scoring was the order of the day.

Shield team captain Sara Hyland of Devonport had a big win in the girls event. She finished 145 pins in front of Emma Tubb,Launceston,who had a close battle with Amy Furley also of Devonport for second place.

The boys was a much closer finish with State Masters champion Daniel Bunting of Launceston finishing 24 pins in front of Adam Reeve from Burnie. Hobart's Elliot Renshaw finished third.

Congratulation go to Sara Hyland and Emma Tubb for being selected to attend the National Junior Camp. They will be joined at the camp by Trent Pearce who was selected for the camp in 2000.
