Bizaar Styles

i would probably be up there, u dont see many left handed crankers around much anymore and with a back swing as big as mine lol.

when i was younger, I used to bowl with this kid who purposely tripped up after every shot. annoyed the hell outta me

I'd rank up there I guess...... bowling off the wrong foot and all
James

Nothing wrong with that James. The first sanctioned 300 in Australia was rolled by a wrong foot bowler.;)

Its not so much the style thats strange, but I know someone who got into the habit of doing what can only be called a "horse kick" just prior to their final step. Not sure exactly how it happened, I know I was told, but that was a while ago

i once saw a person who stood one step away from the foul line, raised her ball up above her head as far as possible let it fall down into the backswing while turning her hand around and then take one step and let it go

and then thier is myself before i changed my style. i used to have a 4 step approach but pushed out on the 2nd step and pushed upwards and then on the backswing pulled it through as fast as i could and wacked it, now i still do a bit of this now as u all know its hard to change habits but at least now i have some accuracy lol

A friend of mine used to walk up to the line swing the ball take a step back and release the ball.

Another bowler I have seen in another centre who was introduced to the 4 step approach who got to the last step and stopped lowered the ball and just rolled it as they normally did haha.

There used to be this dude at the Geelong Bowling Lanes who used to start off by crouching down with the ball on the ground, then he'd jump up, lift the ball as high as he possibly could above his head, then bowl normally. He actually had a plate thing in his head, so many at the bowl wondered if maybe one day he'd dropped a ball on his head when he was lifting the thing up above it.

I used to bowl with a guy I went to school with at Mornington and later at Moonah who used to bend his arm so much that he sort of "round-armed" it onto the lane - we used to call him "Shot-Put Gav".
I used to whince at how he delivered it, and how he never busted his elbow, but he didn't want to change it, so continued to play that way.

I remember going to a Nationals once and there was a woman from WA who used to hold the ball up so high above her head before she bowled that she almost used to hit the computer scoring above. Jette (Somebody) her name was I think?

Matt, her name was Jette Jacobs and yes her style was bizarre but strangley effective. I believe she won a South Pacific and represented Australia in at the World Cup, same year as Michael Muir I think.

Ahh yes! Thanks Steve, Jette Jacobs that's the one - very good player too from what I saw.
Got the job done 'oright she did. Must've been 14 or so years back when I saw her play.

it was on the news ages ago that there was this guy in a america who just bowled his first 300, but the way he bowled was weird. he stood at the foul line with his back turned to the lane, his back swing was in front of him and he moved his wrist around the ball to make it hook.
