Biggest/Most Impressive Centre in the US

Big Paulie

Pennywise
Hey guys,

The wife and I are heading to the US and Canada next week for a month and I'd like to visit a large 50+ lane centre while I am over there (not to bowl, just to checkout). Can anyone recommend a centre? I want to be impressed ;)

I'm visiting LA, San Diego, SF and Las Vegas during the US part.

Cheers,

Paul

Paul,
Las Vegas has heaps of centres.. I can think of at least 5 with 60+ lanes.. Just google it.. Red rock lanes gets my vote!!

You're probably not going to Indianapolis, but Woodland bowl is 80 lanes on one wall. As Andrew Frawley once said to me, "I swear you can see the curvature of the earth when you look from one end to the other!"

Vegas will be your best bet, Southpoint is where they recently held the PBA WSOB, its 32 lanes back to back (opposite each other) with a huge concourse in the middle. Red Rock is great and you cant go past the old Sams Town for the history and famous champions that have won there over the decades.

If you're looking at buying some gear over there, my friend David Haynes (ex Team USA player) has a few pro shops there, I'm sure he'll look after you.

HUH?...That would be the late Showboat/Castaways..NOT Sam's Town.

No the PWBA always ran their events at Sams Town, I was correct in the first place.

way to cover Georgio....Showboat is where HISTORY happened..Sam's Town just catered to the 20 or so ladies who were any good.

Oh God, here it comes...

Sam's is a nice house. But just another bowl in a basement most days. National Bowling Stadium in Reno looks impressive. Never been there myself though.

Go and see Yellowstone NP. Better than any bowling centre! Or Stadium or man-made object for that matter!

Thanks Schmicko, but Google won't give me personal opinions/experiences... better to ask people who have been there.

Thanks Jason, but yeah I won't be heading to Indianapolis this trip

Thanks George... if you had to pick one? I'm not sure the wife will let me take time out to visit more than one, so I'm really looking for the 'One' :)

Not going to make it to Yellowstone either, but I am going snowboarding in Banff...

I've been to many of the Bowling Centres around LA, Reno and Las Vegas including the old Show Boat, Gold and Suncoast Casinos and The National Bowling Stadium in Reno. But I've got to say Reno is the place that does it for me.

It's 81 lanes (lane 81 is in the pro shop area) complete with stadium seating for around 3,000 spectators is just spectacular.

I first attended the Stadium way back in the early ninties when the World FIQ was held there. In those days both the Men and Womens championships were combined and the colour of the teams with their hundreds of supporters was, for me, the greatest ever spectacle I've ever seen in Bowling.

I've since been there at least another seven times for pro events and have never been disapointed.

I agree...The Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada is spectacular..
However, getting there in Winter can be a problem. Driving over the Sierra Nevada Mountains is always hazardous and flying in can result in long delays during snowstorms.
