Scoops,

The 5th event on the 2001 Queensland Wide Bay Grand Prix Circuit, the Queensland Open, is being held at Hervey Bay on the week-end of 11/12 August.

The Tournament involves 12 games of Qualifying, in one of three (3) Squads, followed by a cut to the Top 12 for 11 games of Matchplay (20 bonus pins for a win, 10 for a draw). Pinfall dropped after Qualifying no Stepladder. Entry Fee $143 (including GST). Prize Fund, based on 48 bowlers, is $800 + Trophy for 1st, paying down to $140 for 16th.

I'm sure your bowler would be very welcome to participate in this event, although he MAY need to "shell-out" an extra $10 to join TBAL depending on the status of his overseas registration. Hervey Bay is approximately 225 kms north of Brisbane, as the South Australian flys, or about 290 kms by road - a comfortable 4 hr drive. I'm also sure that someone on the Circuit could help him out with a lift to and from the Tournament.

Scoops, let me know if this Tournament is of interest to your player, and, if so, I can fax you a copy of the Entry Form and provide help with other arrangements locally. As you would know, Queensland is a great place to visit at this time of year.

Scoops,

That weekend is Barossa Cup weekend, $1200 1st and an entry fee of abt $180 or so, I will check it out and get back to you tomorrow night. There aren't too many spots left, but it is a great weekend and some international flavour will help proomote the event. Do you have ICQ? If so my no. is 51852492.

Who'd want to spend the weekend in South Australia when you could go to Hervey Bay ?? Maybe we could book him on a Mimi Mcpherson Whale Watch Tour !!!

Thx Guys

I will see the yng man in question sometime this week, he was going to China but not now cause the format requires him to play all-events and he doesnt feel he would be ale to get into a team and/or dbls event, so I trying to talk him into bowling SPC then go onto one of the other events.

I would likke to think that the Aussie bowler would look after him and i am sure he would add some flavour to any event, this guy can throw the ball. He shot a perfecto in my house last week which made his 5th and was one of the best games i have seen.

Tahnks again for the info, It would also be appreciated if anyone could get me some info on the SPC and the other two entry forms would be greatly appreciated.

And perhaps billeting him out being alone in a strange country can be daunting as I have found out and i'm sure we would all agree nicer if someone was there to help him get around

Cheers

Al

Scoops,

Are you referring to the New South Wales Open (3rd to the 5th August) at Bankstown, rather than the SPC. If so, I can fax you a copy of the Entry Form for this Event and the Queensland Open (Hervey Bay) if you post your facsimile number here. The NSW Open field is limited to 132 bowlers in three Qualifying Squads and there are only about 25 to 30 spots left. Squad C is full and Squad A, on Friday evening, has about 2 spots left; his best bet is Squad B on Saturday morning.

If you do mean the SPC (7th to 9th September), I don't think the Entry Forms are out yet.

Is your bowler young enough for the Koala Open International Youth (105 USA bowlers)/ Aussie Youth Event? Graham has posted details of this "fun" event elsewhere on the Forum.

Thx Hedley

Yes I do mean the NSW Open and no he has just turned 23 thats why i queried the fact that the Koala Cup was called a Youth event yet cut off age is set at 20 rather than 24 which is the International cut off?

Is it not possible to scan and email me the entry forms, this would be preferred or you can post them to my home address here. reason being the fax we have here is older than ' Adam' and you cannot see about 25% of the fax. Mailing takes about 5-8 days to get here

thx for all your help and would love details on NSW, GRAND PRIX and Barossa Cup

Scoops,

Because of the file size restrictions imposed by your e-mail service provider (hotmail) the NSW Open Entry Form is too big to e-mail direct to you. Do you have an alternative e-mail address (one without file size restrictions) that I can can send the Form to? Also you will need Acrobat Reader to open it.

If you don't have both of these, let me know and I will scan the Form one (1) page at a time and send it to you as four separate e-mails. In case this also does not work I suggest you provide your fax number and I'll fax the Form a few times in the hope that you will be able to read enough to make sense.

Once we work out how to get the NSW Open Entry Form to you, I'll use the same method to send you the Queensland Open (Hervey Bay) Entry Form.

Alan,

If your bowler comes to the NSW open I would be happy to put him up for a few nights, and give him a lift to the centre etc. I live in Wollongong, but work in Sydney so picking him up for the airport and stuff would not be an issue. If he does want to bowl you better let us know quick as c squad is now full.

Regards
James

OK folks, hopefully, the "problem" of the NSW Open Entry Form has been solved -- provided the computer that Scoops is using did not come off the Arc. I've e-mailed him a web-site address at which he can access the Form.

you only "thought" your problems were solved .. let's hope with the intervention of a "skilled tradesman" that he may actually get the form

Is there any money for women in the QLD Open at Hervey Bay??

I got the Entry details but goodness knows whats gone on here but one of the bowlers just got 5000pound to take as many who want to go to the British Open so I'm sorry but I am really not sure if he or any r going to go

I cannot thank you all enough for your help and I will still be pushing that they go Down Under and get some real competition
