Sad news this evening, with the news of the death of former Tasmanian Rachuig player and Manager of the Women's teams, Joan Mason.
Joan passed away after a battle with lung cancer.
Joan Mason was a member of the 1968-1971-1972-1973 Tasmanian Rachuig Women's teams, and was Manager of the Women's Rachuig teams in 1985 & 1986.
Joan continued to bowl in the Morning Star League at Moonah Bowl up until a couple of months ago and was a lovely lady, always up for a laugh and a chat.
Farewell to Joan, and my condolences to her family.
{Edit:} Another sad piece of news from the South was the death this morning (Thursday) of another long-time player at Moonah, Ray Whitney.
Ray was a longtime member of the Tassie Tourers bowling organisation and passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Condolences go out to his family.
