STRING PINSETTER MACHINES?

Wouldn't have pins flying off the pin deck & back up the lane with this!

But, imagine if there's a tangle. I could imagine that would tangles would be a fairly common occurrence.

Tangle for sure Andy and easily. The strings don't look very loose either, how often does a pin wobble only to be impacted by the string wanting it to stay up?

Coffs Harbour 9 pin runs a string system.. Spent two hours there blasting balls at them and there wasn't a single tangle.

can remember going to new Zealand 28 yrs ago and they had them then it was fun watching the pin boys running back and forth

Warrnambool had 2 lanes with string machines in the mid 70's. They were MM brand we named them Mickey Mouse. Had to undo the odd tangle and retie strings to pins. They lasted about a year, on trial from a New Zealand company.

String machines are becoming popular with the small outlets and private houses. The TMS machine is sold here by QubicaAMF. Everything is the same as a normal lane setup including the pins except they have a string attached. There have been a couple of instals done recently at a private house in Sydney, and a pub in Narrabri. A amusement centre in Rosebud Vic will be swapping out 4 - 90xls next month for TMS and a new 6 lane instal in Mansfield Vic in November. Some rumors are around that AMF Aust has been having talks with AMF USA with regards to TMS due to the fact that mechanics are not necessary.

Thanks Ryan for your comments and it is good to see that you enjoyed playing Kegel 9-pin in Coffs. I have been operating string-setters now for 10 years and never had a breakdown that required a mechanic. This machines are simple and indestructible; need very little maintenance and are very save to operate. Also the power consumption is only a fraction of free fall pinsetters. However, the hardened Tenpinners are hesitant to try it as they are worried of the pins getting knocked over by the strings. Other comments that I had was that they are concerned that the strings impair the pinfall. The fact is, that none of this is completely right and lets face it, if two players play against each other, both are still on a level playing field.
We are using exclusively pinsetters made in Germany and redesigned to our specific requirements. The quality is superb and anybody that likes to call in to our Coffs Harbour or Moonee Beach centre is more than welcome. We have had a number of AMF and Brunswick mechanics check us out ant they were all amazed of the simplicity of the equipment.
