Hi All

Well everybody arrived safe and well after a gruelling 28 hour trip. Scott and i stopped in LA over night and had a bit of R and R.

I can beleive it but ive seen more rain since ive been here than i have at home in the last 12 months.

The kids are all settleing in well taking in a bit of sight seeing before the main event starts on friday. To say there excited is an understatement.

The scores will be posted on the main website but any outstanding results for us will be posted here daily. If we can get onto the net that is.

Bye for now from sunny Orlando. (i was kidding its p@#*ing down)

Philby ,Dozza and Scotty

Well not much to report today. Still raining. Ive seen more rain here in 2 days than i have in 2 years at home. It is so humid and muggy we are all coming home a size smaller. Not much happening today. Just R&R because it all starts happening tomorow. Visited the bowl last night and had dinner and a beer for $10 i could get used to this. THe bowl is huge and i mean huge 80 lanes back to back. the concorse is about 180 feet from side to side. Their main league is 48 lanes of 4 man teams. While this is going on there is a 16 x4 man teams on the other side.Like i said huge. Oh well off shopping again. Dozza is a bad influence. She is a shopping maniac. Ciao for now and will post again tomorow if ive survived the shops.

Thanks for the updates. Is there a website we can go to for progressive scores during the day.

I am sure that these youth bowlers will do us proud.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oy Oy Oy...

Puts Australia to absolute shame, when most places here are no bigger than 20 or so lanes and struggle to fill even singles leagues... not to mention the difference in prices....... out of interest how much is a game over there?

Good luck to the Aussie team

Easy Tiger

We bowled at the 40 lane Chelsea Piers complex during the week. $8.00 per game flat rate, no discount for multiple games.

But this is NYC were everything is a little more expensive. We've bowled in London and Germany on this trip for much the same deal and don't get me started about bowling in Hong Kong, where the centres aren't even open to the public.

Believe me it willl be great to be back in Aussie. You really don't know how lucky you are.

Just to set the record straight on bowling prices in the USA. You'll find that a game of bowling will be available in most areas of the country for around $3.00 per game, with some bowling centers going as low as a single dollar for a game ( usually in the summertime, when open play drops off )

Peter is living life large...Chelsea Piers is not your normal bowling center by any means.

GOOD LUCK TO OUR YOUTH BOWLERS....
and watch out for the dive bombing cicadas....
:)

when i went to sam's town casino in las vegas it had 58 lanes and games for like $4 and $2 shoe hire. but graveyard rate (10pm-2am) $1.50 a game.

It also had a great pro shop

Just to let you know easy tiger the reason they can offer these prices and huge centers is they have 66 million bowlers a week that bowl in LEAGUES
so you can sorta work out why they put us to shame what is the point of having a 100 lane center here.

And lets keep this thread on topic. For the Aussie youth team Orlando.

Good Luck to every one over there I am sure you guys and girls will do us proud !!!

GO AUSTRALIA

Thanks happy chicken i was just going tosay the same.

Opening cerimonie today adn it was great makes you very proud to be aussie. The kids are very popular fitting in with the world and doing everybody proud.

Singles start tomorrow. Boys on at 11ish am i think and the girls the next day. I have to say i have never seen such depth of talent. Who wins is going to be anybodys bet.

The team is going great, getting along well and having just the best time. I must admit so is the support crew. Anyway time to go have a beer. Its 29 deg at 9.30 pm great beer weather. And not a fly in site.

Bye from Orlando and hopefully tommorw will bring medals to ozzzzzzzzzzz.

Hi All,

The boys and Girls start tomorrow with 6 games of singles on the long starting at 12.30pm here, followed by the girls later in the afternoon.

All are looking great on both patterns and our hopes are high. Official practice was today which was a great opportunity to settle the nerves and sort out final ball selections.

Looking forward to a successfull week.

Regards
James
P.S This bowl is so big on league that it has an office just for the league administrator, it is amazing what population does for profile.

I was referring to the numbers of bowlers they have, not the prices or size of the centres, when talking about putting Australia to shame. I'm well aware they have a much larger population but regardless, bowling here is tiny, and even less as a "sport".

I didn't think I needed to elaborate but sorry for not making myself clearer.

Good luck to the Aussies...........

Hi all just back fromhe bowl. The girls had doiubles today. They all bowled very well but the field was very hot. Not sure exactly where they finished but scores are up on the website. Gold was won by Germany who defeated Columbia. Was truely a world semifinal with a team from each of the major continents. South Korea v Comumbia and Germany v Mexico. Was a great finish to a great days bowling.

Its very hot today in Orlando. 92Deg f but very nice in the bowl. I have to admit this has been a very well run event. Only one breakdown of about 10 minutes on day one. apart from that hardly a thing. Condition has been hard but fair and is playing very consistantly across the house. Oh Well time to open a corona and go lie by the pool. Coronas $1.50 bottle how good is that. Now if i can only fit some in my case. Anyway time to go will update you tomorow with the boys doubles results. Long day tomorow with 2 squads. Expect the scores to be high.

Phil
