What Ball size are you?

well i just use an 11, cause i'm just a little person and can't dratted well lift anything heavier.

however the lighter the ball the more it takes to bowl well on the grounds the ball doesn't have as much behind it on it's own.

remember that all you who mock us weaklings. :)

i must admit i am a bit of a 15 pnd man myself, 14's are good just too light though makes my backswing dead vertical lol

mate 15 lb is the only way to go. 14 makes ur swing so big u just about hit the roof. I bowl it fast enough as it is sometimes... although it is all good again coz I have fixed it all up :D

I must be a dying breed... I still use 16's where I can. Helps keep my speed under 400 mph.... looks like coming out of a flamethrower

They look good when they hit

must be common i use heavy 15's but there not alwayz the best. Its the way the ball moves on the lane that determines how u bowl.
Newayz i'm off

Im using 14lb but i'm bowling too fast. im nearly 16 and i've got an avg speed of bout 25-26ks. i really want to go to 15. Just a problem, the most common one, no money... :(

Shit happens :) :D

well at the moment i am bowling with a 15lb strike ball and a 16lb spare ball.

until august '02 i had been using all 16lb balls for a good 18 months prior but the change to a lighter ball has been one of the best choices i've made :D

!6-15

Good choice Luke! 16 lb ball does not do good on lanes. When you come out of the ball, the natural stroker puts enough axis rotation on the ball to make it move well within 10-15 boards and the cranker coudl make the ball do more, possibly 10-20 boards. With a 15 lb ball, you cut the axis of rotation down and leave yourself more room to work with. See, gravity forces the differential to the front of the core, increasing over all power and therefore, clearing those nasty corner pins! Works all the time, if you use 16 lbs, you might want to go to 15, i have jsut recently made that transition! Best luck! Take care. :p :) :D

Yo

Hey, w/e works for ya boss. Thats all that matters! :)

I will have to disagree with you about your comments on gravity and axis rotation. You said " With a 15 lb ball, you cut the axis of rotation down and leave yourself more room to work with. See, gravity forces the differential to the front of the core, increasing over all power and therefore, clearing those nasty corner pins! Works all the time, if you use 16 lbs, you might want to go to 15"

That is not the case at all. 15lb and 16lb balls share the same coverstock and shell so how can it change? The only thing that can make the axis change is the bowlers release and depending on the strength of the bowler that shouldn't change just because the ball is 1 pound heavier. The true difference between the 2 weights is deflection through the pindeck but again that is dependant on bowler speed, revs and strength. PIN placement and the position of the mass bias is the only thing that truly matters with bowling balls.

There are so many variable's involved it isn't funny but in summary my point is that 1 pound difference in weight will not change a bowlers axis tilt or rotation at all. It's all about the PIN and MASS BIAS.

 I bowl with 14 pounders witch are really good now but because i've started to work out i'm reving the ball more so at the end of the year i'll probably go to 15 pounders.

Im going to agree with GeorgeF, but i think usa bowler tried to get too technical without actually understanding what he was talking about. About the only differences with the extra weight is the slightly different RG and differential RG ratings. I think he was over exaggerating the effect both of these play in the ball path.

What i think he was getting at george was the way the differential offsets the axis (wobbles) as it travels down the lane. Differentials dont really change from ball weights (unless the core changes), that is something the manufacturers try to keep constant. The difference is usually the decrease in RG with the heavier weights. As you know lower RG balls display earlier roll characteristics (not taking into account the core or coverstock).

Of course he was totally wrong about clearing corner pins, that is a deflection thing more than anything (as you mentioned). But deflection is a funny thing, you can have some spectacular leaves because quite simply the pins are flying everywhere without staying low on the pin deck where you want them to be.

I go 15 Lbs in the balls all the way. And that wasnt attended to be dirty for all you dirty minded bowlers our there. haha

i bowl with 14pounders just because it was easier to go from 11pounds to 14pounds than 11pounds to 15pounds and plus majority of the balls come in 14pounds (i think it might be 15) :!:
