Heya peeps,
I would just like to take a little bit of your time to tell u about the great program which is ran at werribee for the junior bowlers. Each Monday night a group of 20+ junior bowlers from Werribee get together and have coaching sessions - this is a great program which i appreciate very much!I would like to thank Edi, Dorianna and all the parents who help us out, whatever our needs. THANX GUYZ for all your help and endless support! I think other centres should note of this and mayb think about starting up a simaliar program! Even though its been a while since we have found out who has made the Victorian Eastcoast Team, i would like to Congratulate every body who made it! And a special note out to Cassie, who has been bowlin like a star lately - we r sooooooo proud of u! Anywayz.......just again THANZ HEAPS WERRIBEE!
Ciao Bellas, Luv Sam!

Hi guz

as i am part of this group, i thought i better put something in.

i luv it as i want to get far in life and would like to thank edi and joe that started this group. pitty joe has left but it is still going strong. and i am proud to be a werribee bowler as we look great and get noticed. when go outer state, people think we are from queensland and nsw. it is funny. every tournament is different but i always lol.

hopefully it keeps going for years to come :D

bye guz and thanks for reading.

hey there guys, Just wanted to say a quick note on your posts. It is great to see centres such as werribbe getting behind their juniors with a development program like you have. You guys are doing a great job over there and you can definately see the effort going into the juniors through their scores and achievements. We at Mentone have a vey similar program. Our junior development program has three parts. 1. we have a section called pokemon for our babies, this runs mainly on monday , thursday and friday afternoons. 2. we have a section called JDP which obviously stands for junior development program set up for our juniors that are learning the basics of ten pin . then 3. Is our junior leagues that are designed to take our juniors further than JDP and into tournaments and trying out for teams. At this stage our juniors are very dedicated to going somewhere in our sport and train anywhere up to 5 days a week after school in one on one coaching sessions with myself or in group sessions that I organise. Without our juniors in any centre this sport has no future and people have to realise this. The amount of talent I have personally seen throught our country in the junior section of ten pin bowling is amazing and I would hope this only continues for years through to our youth section then of course adults. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS>>>

What we should start, is an elite camp of juniors, which meet once a month

A panel of people, select a group of say 10 bowlers (5 girls, 5 boys), and once a month (or to make it easier, once every 2 months), they get taken to a location, and worked with some of the best coaches, mentors and even fellow bowlers that this state has to offer.

The reason I say selection, is this gives bowlers something to strive for. You have your basic training, then you have JDP's, then you have the "elite".

Considering Im out of youth as of the end of this year, i would be able to work on this with anyone else in the bowling community who wanted to help launch such a project. We could visit various bowling centres around the area. I dont mind picking up people close to me and taking them down there.

PROGRESSING JUNIORS

My suggestion would be to contact Graham Hinkley as he is the TBA coaching coordinator in Victoria. He may be able to supply you with guidelines and names of coaches who could assist. Most likely he would want to be involved.

Werribee did run a special program earlier this year with Kevin Braun, Mike Griffiths, Louise Eaddie and Graham Hinkley. It was over 3 days and was great! We even did one a couple of years ago with a NBA basketballer heading the field (he had specialised in bowling in the USA before going to basketball) it was wonderful for the kids who attended (mainly 6 - 11 year olds).

We will be running something similar again next year and we have a great coach set up- some one with vast amounts of experience. She will surprise you all. (no more on that just yet!)

By the way ..... if anyone wants any info in setting up a program like Werribees I will give you all the info I can in the set up. I know for a fact that your independant Goldpin managers would welcome anyone setting up programs in their centres (subject to lane availability- of course). It certainly instills lots of centre pride.

See you all!

Edi
