Trotter Shoots 299 - Leads World Cup

Paul Trotter of Australia was close to become the first player in AMF Bowling World Cup history to shoot two perfect games in one tournament. Trotter finished the 32-game preliminaries with a 299-game after leaving a ringing ten on his final shot. Competing in his first AMF World Cup Trotter claimed the top seed position for tomorrow's best-of-three single elimination finals with total pinfall of 7493, an average of 234,16.

Trotter will face Finn Mika Luoto, who shot a 218-score in his final game to grab the 8th and final spot at 7227, 225,84 average. Germany's Kai Günther, who posted the 4th perfect game today, fell one place to second at 7439. Günther is one of five lefties that made the men's show. He meets No. 7 Remy Ong, Singapore, who toppled 7230 pins (225,94 avg.).

England's Wayne Greenall ended in third position at 7359 (229,97). He will take on Saudi Arabia's talent Talal Towareb, who was the No. 6 at 7267 (227,09). Ahmed Shaheen, Qatar, slipped two place to fourth at 7357 (229,91) and meets U.S. champion Andrew Cain. Cain felled 7341 pins (229,41), good for the fifth place.

The men's quarter-finals over best-of three games will commence on Friday, October 25, at 2. p.m.

In the womens division :

Shannon Pluhowsky (photo), USA, finished the 32-preliminaries of the women's division in the 38th AMF Bowling World Cup with a 7434, pinfall total, a field-best 232,31 average. The players, who started today's two blocks of six games among the top 8, reached the single elimination finals in an arena-style setting.

Pluhowsky, who shot a 299-game today, will face No. 8 Teresa Piccini of Mexico, who hit the cutoff number with 6818, 213,06 average. Wendy Chai, Malaysia, who started the day in 7th place, leaped five places in to second at 7052 (220,38). Chai will meet No. 7 Nikki Harvey of England, 6824 (213,25). French Pascale Moynot slipped one spot in the final block to land in third position at 6918 (216,19). She will take on Colombia's Sara Vargas, who finished sixth at 6858 (214,31). No. 4 seed Mari Kimura, Japan, who had defeated reigning World Cup Champion Nachimi Itakura in her national qualifier, will face 2000 World Cup champion Amanda Bradley. The Australian checked in at 6873 (214,78), good for the fifth position.

The women's quarter-finals over best-of three games will commence on Friday, October 25, at 8. am.

what can i say but paul trotter is a machine.....lol
he is bowling well at the moment. so lets all hope he and amanda can go all the way and bring home both of the cups.

What is going on with Paul.
He doesnt look happy enough.
I would have still been jumping around.
