Results Sports Series NO 2

Congratulations to Queensland’s Carl Bottomley today on a hard ground out win in the Second Sport Series event for the year. The star studded field containing our very own Australian Men's Captain Jason Walsh and the Adult Rankings leader and self confessed "Australia’s best left hander" George Frilingos ;) . On an unusual sports condition, scores were quiet low with only 5 over the card in qualifying with Damien McAndrew leading the pack with +62 after his 8 Games.
What makes Carls victory so sweet is the fact he was no where to be seen after 4 games of Qualifying. At a 163 under the card with 4 games of qualifying to go, he reset his goals and once again proved why he is in a class above the rest. Once again Wenban proved that he still has what it takes to match it with this young field,:) with games of 258,213 out of the blocks, proving it was no challenge for him... and showing us all why he is one of the greatest to walk the timber. ;)

Heading into match play, the second wash seemed to change the way the condition played from qualifying once again. 7 games of 3 person match play saw the field move dramatically. 40 points a win and 20 for second really showed how important those bonus pins are. Bottomley with games of, 214,200,214,188,244,229,185 to take the lead from McAndrew. Neither Frilingos nor Wenban ever headed the Queenslander. Frilingos the only bowler in the field to average over the card for the entire tournament was second and Wenban rounded out the top 3.
A great day and a well run tournament and many thanks to Caboolture Bowl, Hiliary and Dave Hardy for a smooth and well run day, Once again thank you all for showing up and see you all at the next stop on the 9th of July 2006.

And the award for the bowler who could bowl the fastest was

TIE: George Frilingos and Brian Pilkington at 41.5km/h (and striking)

certainly was a funky pattern to say the least, lucky we have no asian spinners living in Brisbane
