A funny thing happened on the way to the Bowl - Ballina Bowl - - - Really. I wanted to write down a couple of things from a league standing sheet, and instead of grabbing a piece of paper, I opened a filing cabinet in the workshop and saw a little 'spirex' notebook, so I grabbed it and headed off. When I got to the Bowl, I looked in the notebook and found the first few pages filled with electrical symbols and formulae. This reminded me what I had them for, and placed the entries in the late 1950s. A few pages on, it was most likely 1961 / 62, and I was 'Night Manager' of Totem Bowl at Balgowlah. I wrote down a few reminders. What to check, switch off, lock, etc when closing. Also, these little gems. Turn off Air-Con ASAP ( say 11.30 ) Consider if Instructor can knock off ( 11.00 / 11.30 ) Take 'X' Reading on register @ Midnight, and 'Z' reading at close.

See, bowling really was that popular way back then. Close at Midnight - well maybe - sometimes.. See, It wasn't a dream.

When I was at Bankstown there was always one meter disconnected.
We practised a great deal on that lane..
