So there is life in the 'old' girl yet!! Barb, you have not lost your touch under the pressure in the big events - congratulations on your 3 Bronze and 1 Silver.

There is discussion here that maybe Cockburn could do with an influx of 'old' bowlers in the future - are you sure there is no bowling centre there. You must have been sneaking in some games !! Well done.

Congratulations to all the guys in masters today, Paul missed the bronze by 20 pins.....

My apologies to all our bowlers in Japan because I was not able to transpose any pictures from the medals ceremonies to put on this website for everyone to see......unfortunately I don't know how to do it, and thought maybe someone else may have taken the opportunity instead....:(

well done to each and every one of you, enjoy the dinner tonite and the rest of your stay in Japan, and we will see you when you get home next week.

Konichewa ;)

Fantastic Barb - grin mile wide this way :p Anyone out there want to build a Bowling lane at Cockburn??? Imagine the damage the old girls will do if able to practice :p (OK - can kill me later re the old girl remark heheheeeeeeeeee. Can't be happier for you. XXX

To the 2 Bronnies (no pun intended)

Thanks heaps for all the information posted over the last week, it was so much easier to look for your results posting than waiting for the host country to post the results.

Good job - well done.

Well done to all the bowlers - some great results and a few very near misses. Hold your heads up high.

Barb Richmond - you are a legend! Your dream come true, a superb achievement. The truckies will be lining up for your autograph when you get home now you are famous.

thanks Co burn Bron - don't suppose you could put the other medal pictures up too???;)

First pic is Barb Winning Grand Senior Singles. Next pic is the Grand Senior Teams - Maxine, Val, Pearl and Barb and then Barb winning all events.

Congratulations to ALL the Senior/Grand Senior bowlers who funded their own Touring Party to Japan .... good to see medals but I feel certain that those who participated have tried their hearts out for their country.

Seniors bowling is obviously a growing area of this sport with so many willing to spend their children/grandchildren's inheritance for the opportunity to embark on new challenges - TBA Seniors Challenge in Melbourne was a resounding success and it is a shame that TBA have not felt it necessary to acknowledge the performances of their chosen team.

Yes, there will be those who say 'ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN SHIRT' for anyone willing to pay, but what other choice do we have in this country where there is very little funding for ANYONE willing to nominate. GO THE 'OLDIES' in my book and the fact that I AM one may colour my comments!!!

Looking forward to the feedback/gossip from those who participated and hopefully some ideas for MORE senior events.

To those of you who have taken the time for congratulations and to all those who were there to support your fellow aussies, I really appreciate the honour of bowling for our Country, I would also like to add that Lorraine did an absolutely fantastic job before, during and after the Tournament, if she had not been there to make our life easier, then am sure there would have been a few more problems, if she didnt know , she would find out for you, we only needed to ask, Lorraine, Thank you once again Richo

I would also like to add to that, some of the bowlers should read the rules and regulations of a tournament before they knock any members of our Aussie Team, 99% of our team performed the best they could under the conditions that were placed before them.
And Thank you Jeanette for setting up the condition, which i might add was pretty close, (as you said, the back ends would be cleaner and they were) and for your time and effort, and i will state again, wish you had been there, am sure you would have blown the place apart . Richo

I am a bit confused here, and no its not the drugs ........

considering that the vast majority of posts on this subject have been placed by myself, I am at a loss as to where there has been criticism of any member or results ???

Is it that I didn't write enough??? TBA certainly haven't gone out of their way to promote the results on their web page, and THEY are the ones that CHOSE you to represent us......At least I was bothered enough to do it on this forum, even if I couldn't get the pictures up :(

Broni

Hi Broni
dont get concerned, I'm pretty confident Barb's comment was not aimed at this thread..

Team members were pleased to see someone putting up the scores for our friends and family to see as we were too tired at the end of the day to do it.
So thank you Broni and there is definitely no criticism aimed here.

Unfortunately, sickness and injuries prevented some from achieving more but even they still put in 100%
I know for a fact we (Bowlers and Supporters) screamed, yelled, cheered, encouraged, coached, massaged (when necessary), to help get our bowlers as close to a medal as possible and we left Japan feeling good about our performance as an Australian Team, gee even the most harden members were seen to be a little moist around the eye area during our medal presentations. :D

Our mascot 'Kanga' was a huge success with the other countries and definitely a hit when we gave her( it had a Joey in the pouch) to Japan at the dinner.

Thanks to all for a great two weeks and we certainly hope to be able to do it again
Carol & Lawrie
