The golden age of bowling returned to AMF Belconnen last night with forty-six 5-person teams entering the every popular welcome squad to the Darrell Holt Tenpin Bowling Carnival.

The tournament was named in memory of the late John Dobson who dedicated a life time of his voluntary services to tenpin bowling and lower average bowlers.

Such were the entries in 2008 that the tournament team added a further squad to accommodate the expected high entries in 2009.

The winners had travelled all the way from Albany Western Australia to compete in the carnival and this event, after missing a spot last year. The combination of Carol Wals, Diane Barradeen, Maurice Barton, Sue Reynolds &
Karola Russell lead right from the first game and continued to improve to collect the $1400 first place prize from the $10,000 prize pool.

That goes to show a bad move a few years ago to get rid of WDV:(

I said it before and I will say it again. This is mainly due to the leadership of Peter Coburn. What a great servant for our game :)
